And ever since, Bush is pounding the world, since 9/11. 4 years now. 3 actually. The first year Bush spent 43 percent of his time on vacation. And he rose, and did very stupid things, and so did I rise to loonacy with many others against him. Bush is a complete world ignorant, and so am I. But for another 4 years.

Qu-bits'n'quantum hardware

Just reading up on differents sorts of hardware
processors. Qu-bit processors sure seem bound
to solve speed processing!! (if a quantum computer
is based on the decoherance of particles, that
have remained fundamentally ambiguous till their
spin of electrons is resolved),but how and what
about the parameters of their containment? and
will the results be skewed by them? Ultimately
although quantum seems limitless, isn't it only
going to be as good as the box its kept in?

Quantum computing is unmitigated crackpottery. Heck, I think it's much
worse than crackpottery, only because crackpottery is harmless. It is
a bona fide con game being perpetrated on an unsuspecting public. And
the chief con artist in none other than David Deutsch, an Oxford
physicist. Deutsch is a veritable magician when it comes to making
chicken feather voodoo appear like legitimate science.

For some reason, England seems to have a disproportionate number of
physics crackpots in high places. I'm thinking of that other little
con artist, you know, the one in the wheelchair.

But don't you think that any research done in a 'new'
science has to evolve, and theres loads in quantum
research to be discovered? I'm a crackpot, I think
that the methods and ways of looking at things are
often inflexible and old routines can interfere with
exploration that might reveal new solutions.

The two biggest crackpots in neuroscience right now are Roger Penrose
and Stewart Hammeroff. Given, Penrose is a genius in both
mathematics and physics, he is a total airhead when it comes to
neuroscience and AI. Many people have been taking Stewart Hammeroff
very seriously, and one of the reasons they do so is becuase his
theories of quantum microtubules is based on some article that Penrose
wrote. I have been having very heated arguments on IRC with people
who subscribe to Hammeroff's theories that the brain is somehow
exploiting quantum trickery. But when one digs deeper, one finds out
that Hammeroff is like some sort quack who is trying to prove that the
soul exists in some sort of new age quacko combination of the
christian soul and hindu mysticism.

One the other hand, I'm having a hard time beleiving that quantum
computing is a pseudo science. I have read about it numerously in
many respected science journals. Also I have read a whole doctoral
thesis about quantum computing at a respected university.

But then again, what the thesis said, did sound like con-game voodoo.
It said that once you set up a quantum computer with the input and
logic gates, that the answer will already be on the output with zero
time to "compute" the answer. In essence, a quantum computer would be
"infinitely fast" in the literal sense. It would take exaclty zero
milliseconds for the output to appear.

Which makes quantum computing proponents look really bad. Even stupid
people like me can see that it's crap.

That's precisely why it's crap. Without a degree in physics nobody can
understand it. If a scientist claims to have a theory about a natural
phenomenon but is unable to explain the theory in a simple language
that the average layman can understand, one can be absolutely certain
that he is as clueless about the nature of the phenomenon in question
as anybody else.

Yeah, right. Keep the con alive for as long as possible and get as
much funding as possible until one can besafely retired.

I don't give a rat's ass whether or not you take me seriously. Do you
put food on my table, {*filter*}?
