  • 3. Having problems deploying site on production.
Hi, We are trying to deploy a developed website. The site was developed in Enterprise Edition of MCSM and the client is trying to deploy the site on Standard Edition of MCMS. However, there are issues and following is what we have as an entry in the application log every time we access the site: The CMS Server is in violation of user restrictions imposed by the Standard Edition License. Either Windows user groups have been assigned to non-Subscriber Rights Groups or there are more than 15 unique users assigned to non-Subscriber Rights Groups. This violation may be the result of a recent Site Deployment Import operation or due to changes made through a non-Standard Edition server operating on the cluster. What should we do? Please advise. Thanks a lot in advance. Vidya.

  • 5. CMS 2002 (SP1) rights issues
On an intranet solution that I have been involved in creating I have stumbled upon something strange when it comes to user rights. I'll try to explain my findings with the following example: There is an authors group called "Intranet Public Authors" that has very limited rights (only a few selected templates and channels) that all users of the company belongs to. This works just fine and the users that only belongs to this group can only access the things they should (for example add news to the intranet etc.) Some of these users should (of course) also be editors in some other channels. When adding the user to an editor group the user gets editor rights to the channels and templates that is specified on the editor group. So far so good, but it seems that the user also gets editor rights on all postings that is created with a template that the user has author rights to and all channels that the authors has right to. Is this really the way it is meant to be? I have tested this by adding an editor group with no rights whatsoever. When a user (that belongs to the "Intranet Public Authors") group is added to the editor group that user gets editor rights on all postings and channels that the "Intranet Public Authors" group has authoring rights to. Is this behaviour by design? And if so, how should I do to prevent the user from getting these editor rights? /Mattias

problems with SCA

Postby QUNF » Thu, 16 Jun 2005 04:09:01 GMT

I am experiencing problems with my current CMS install. Up until a few days
ago all my CMS apps on my dev box worked fine, then all of a sudden I am
having authentication problems and problems with sites rendering images and
CSS. To top it off I can't access the SCA but for some reason site manager
comes up fine. I have tried repairing my CMS install and uninstalling and
re-installing IIS. Any ideas?

Thanks Everyone!

Hi ACE,

please download filemon from www.sysinternals.com and check if you find any
access denied errors here.
Just to see if this is a problem with ACLs on files.

Cheers,
Stefan
