I hava a Front-end/Back-end configuration and when I launch outlook to open a profile using Outlook /rpcdiag I see it connecting via the Back-end server. I assumed I would see it connect via the Front-end server. Is this correct. Is it possible that I've configured something incorrectly? Thanks in advance
  • 2. exchange partition hard drive
Hello, I have one raid card and was going to create a raid 5 volume at 300gb. Would I gain any performance if I partitioned the raid with a c and d drive? I would move the databases and logs to the d: drive, but I see articles recommending moving them to a totally seperate raid set (with another raid card). I don't have the cash to purchase additional parts, and thought by partitioning the single raid 5 volume to c and d drives, it would help with windows fragmentation and better performance with the page file. any help would be great. thanks, matt

How do you replace attributes for users who have mailboxes but the
attributes are missing?

Are the "Custom Attributes" in Exchange 2007 store in Active Directory?

Can I access them through LDAP by querying any of the DC (with Exchange not

3.How to rename custom attributes in Exchange 2003?

I am about to start an Exchange migration from 5.5 to 2003. Our custom
attribute information has transferred into 2003 in our test lab. Now I need
to find a way to rename or edit the custom attributes to where my users can
do an advanced search on the custom attributes. I want to rename them to a
name the users can understand such as project, contractor and other easy to
understand categories. I can go into the schema under ADSI Edit and change
the description and other information but when they go into Outlook and do an
advanced search it still comes up as CustomAttribute1, 2, 3, etc.... When I
do try to change the name using ADSI Edit I receive a message of "The
attribute cannot be modified because it is owned by the system." Is there a
way to change the name of the custom attributes? Do I need to change
permissions somewhere? In Exchange 5.5 it was very easy. You would go into
the DS Site Configuration properties and define the custom attributes. We
have come to rely on them over the years.

Thanks for the help.

4.Multivalued Attribute in Exchange

I am trying to create a script that will create Contacts in my Exchange
organization. I want to set message restrictions to accept messages "Only
from:". I have two groups I want to add to this attribute. The problem is
only the second one gets added:

objuser.put "dLMemSubmitPerms","cn=this group,ou=distribution
groups,dc=anydomain,dc=com"
objuser.putex ADS_PROPERTY_APPEND, "dLMemSubmitPerms", Array("cn=that
group,ou=distribution groups,dc=anydomain,dc=com")
objuser.put "msExchHideFromAddressLists", TRUE
objuser.SetInfo

I have tried the ADS_PROPERTY_APPEND on both lines with the same results. I
have tried without using the putex for the second attribute. Same
result...only the second value gets added. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Ray

5.Attribute for Exchange storage group admin.

I am looking for a way to write a script that will look at each storage
group in exchange 2003 and tell me who has administrative rights. Unless
there is a report that exists that can do the same thing.

Thanks,
Mark Cooper
