  • 1. Exchange 5.5 - Unabel to start exchange services
Hi, During the weekend, we tried to upgrade a Windows NT 4 PDC server to Windows 2000 Server, but this went wrong and the install crashed mid way during the install. We then did a clean install and created all the accounts again. Now when trying to start Exchange Server 5.5. SP4 we are unable to start the services as the SIDs are incorrect in the exchange databases, and are receiving various error messages, such as DS_E_INSUFFICIENT_ACCESS_RIGHTS. Our Exchange Server is installed on a Windows NT 4 SP6a server. Obviously we can't restore the database as they will still contain the old SIDs. We are also unable to reinstall Exchange Server to apply a new service account as it comes back saying it can't continue because of the wrong SIDs. Is there anyway we can start the services so we can manually modify the accounts and select new accounts? We have been working on this problem for over 24hrs straight and are desperate to get this fixed. Marcus
  • 2. Explorer not working
Explorer not working Now that I've done what I could to combat viruses etc. I can't use links to go to different sites. Explorer starts fine but links don't work. What settings do I need to change? Thanks
  • 3. RPC/HTTP authentication failure
I am attempting to configure OL2k3 to Exch2k3 RPC over HTTP. When i attempt to connect i get a username password box repeatedly appearing apparently asking for credentials for the back-end Exchange server. I am trying to configure for non SSL / non HTTPS. I have created the valid ports and the allowanonymous keys on the front end registry; & created the set ports key on the DC registry. What am I missing? It's as though a user name verification is not happening correctly. OWA works correctly as does normal local LAN Exchange connectivity. I dont have much hair - I'd like to keep some of it!!! TIA Alistair
  • 4. Mailbox Access Through OWA is Denied on Exchange Server Across Domains
Well, the subject looks similar to the KB article - 248486. So, please do not send me the same link. :) I setup OWA long back almost 3 years back and after rebuilding it I forgot to add the Group of OWA users on another domain to this computer so they had this problem of accessing OWA. I printed out the above KB article and found that still it did not resolve the issue. 1. The Global Group on the remote domain is already there with the users who have been added to it. 2. Create a local group ?? Well, I forgot now whether to create this local group on the OWA IIS server by logging onto the server using the local computer name or using the Domain Name. 3. I did create a local group by logging on using local computer name and added the global group from the other doamin to this group - This did not help. I also assigned the permission as log on locally and access this computer from the network to this group. 4. I deleted the local group created on the IIS computer and I logged onto the computer using the Domain name.I created the local group in User Manager for Domains and did the above steps. Still No luck!! Still it gives the error message "Failed to get inbox". The username, password is correct. The alias name is correct. But, am not sure, am I missing anything or am I doing it in a wrong way? Please help!! Thanks in advance

This is on Exchange 2000 SP3 on Windows 2000 SP4 server.
Everything else seems to be working fine but the logoff link.

Anyone has any suggestions?
I have already checked the permissions on Exchweb and logoff.asp file.
