What can't be burned onto a disc - technically speaking
by stonej » Sun, 06 Mar 2005 10:56:51 GMT
My son tried to download some files he has with comic illustrations
onto a disc. It said that the disc was "full"
(no room left) but it was a brand new disc - never used.
They were 80 minute discs from Staples. That fact that it says
minutes - does that mean they are for music only?
We recently had the computer upgraded from Windows 98 to XP.
Could there be a compatability problem?

Followup - he now says he thinks he needs CD-W or CD-RW rather than
CD-R

The disc is not formatted maybe? What program are you using to burn
the disc? What Operating System are you using?

Got it fixed last night. We had the tech person on the phone that
recently updated our computer from Windows 98 to XP and he talked my
son through the process and they figured out what he was doing wrong.

Good. It's a pretty simple process if using XP to do it. Just open the
CDRW drive in explorer and drag and drop the files onto that open
explorer window then choose write these files to disc. Windows will
then say preparing disc to write (formatting) and then burn them to
the disc.
