  • 1. Creating Virtual directory from remote directory
Hi, I dont know why I cannot do this so I am posting it here. I have IIS 6.0 environment in my webserver which runs on Win2003. Everything has been working on the server okay. I am trying to create a new virtual directory from remote directory, but it just does not work. The remote server has FAT filesystem and we use NOVELL user account to log on to it. When I tried to create a virtual directory I put the full UNC to the remote directory as the path and also specified the domain/user and password in the authentication. After I created the virtual directory if I try to browse it through the web it says "The network name cannot be found. " Has anyone experienced this? I will appreciate any response. Thanks, Niben
  • 2. IIS6 Page Access Authorization - Referrer?
Looking for what may be a simple solution for many of you. This is all in IIS6 We have one page running on a IIS6 server that calls content from another page. We want the 2nd page to only load if it is being called from the 1st page and not from any other location. Example - if someone tries to access page 2 by directly typing the URL, they are not given access But if they go to page 1 and click on a link to page 2 or something like that, page 2 will load because they came from page 1 or were referred from page 1, etc. Thanks in advance for any help
  • 3. cannot access Novell drive
I'm a bit new at this, and I know there are a few different issues that may be involved, but hoped someone might be able to give me a bit of a clue: I'm running a small website through IIS 6. The .asp page is linked through ODBC to a foxpro database on a Novell drive. The drive is mapped as Q:. I've tried using Q:\DATA\MYDB.DBF to reach the database in the .asp page, and also the UNC path \\MY-SRV\DBS\DATA\MYDB.DBF. Neither works. Seems a user on the website doesn't have the rights to get to the file on the Q: drive. This is probably something pretty obvious, but I don't see it. Can anyone help? Thanks.
  • 4. Problem accessing web folders
I have 2 servers, My DC is 2000, and I also have a internal server running 2003. I run a web server on the 2003. I want to let users access web folders on the 2003, but unless I enable anonymous access I cant log in. I have tried setting up users on the domain and giving them permissions on the folder, I have tried setting up users on the internal server and giving them permissions, neither have worked, any ideas?
  • 5. Newbie Question - Addressing
I've got IIS 6 running on my server and I've created three sites there. I know its a dumb question, but when I'm on a network workstation, what address do I type into the browser's address line to get my sites? The server name? The site name? When I'm typing in the address, how do I distinguish between the three sites that I've got on my server (Same port and IP entered, different header).?

ASP.NET 2.0 Not Running

Postby Kevin » Fri, 30 Mar 2007 07:50:21 GMT

Have Win2003 that has just been updated to SP2.
Solved some problems with the update and feel exhausted!
However am left with IIS6 not running .aspx pages.
Shows .htm pages without problem.
Have struggled to get this far and feel worn out, so any assistance would be
greatfully received.
Thanks
Kevin

Have almost got it running - now have this message:-

Parser Error Message: An error occurred loading a configuration file: Failed
to start monitoring changes to 'c:\inetpub\wwwroot\myweb\web.config' because
access is denied.

3.Visual Studio .Net 2003 Project running in IIS with ASP.NET 2.0

I have a VB ASP.NET project that was compiled using Visual Studio
2003, and which works perfectly when using ASP.NET 1.1 in IIS.
However, if I run IIS with ASP.NET 2.0, controls within repeaters
become relabeled, which leads to bugs in my JavaScript code. For
example, a textbox that is labeled as rptDiag__ctl1_txtVersion in the
source code when ASP.NET 1.1 is used, appears as
rptDiag_ctl01_txtVersion when ASP.NET 2.0 is used. Would I be right to
assume that I should accept that ASP.NET 2.0 should not be used with
Visual Studio 2003 projects?

5.Why not SPS 2003 combined with .Net 2.0 & ASP 2.0

I have read many posts on this subject but still wondering if .net 2.0 &
asp.net 2.0 can co-exist on SPS 2003 server with SP2.

Consider a case below:
I have a large portal consisting of 1000 web sites on a cluster, all sites
are using custom 1.1 web parts built-in site template and we use sharepoint
search extensively to search site contents.

I want to create a new web application in ASP.Net 2.0 and want to host it on
Share point portal server.

My Q. are
1. After installing ASP.Net 2.0 on the SPS SP2machines, will it break any
functionality on exiting sites.

2. If host the ASP.net 2.0 pages on same machine but on a web site different
than SPS site and I would only provide a link for this new 2.0 application
from main portal page. is it possible?

3. has anyone implemented such scenario?

Thanks
