Help! When I go to most websites, the pictures will not
show themselves, just a little white box with an "x"
inside. I do not know why this is happening, everything
was fine up until a few days ago.

You may want to clear / delete temp files;
1. temp internet files
2. C:\Windows\Temp\ all files *.*

3.Have IP address & can ping websites, but can't open website

I have released my IP and renewed it, pinged websites.
But in Internet Explorer, I cannot open a page. Would it
be a virus or something else? I can't figure it out.
Let me know if you need any other info.

5.opening pictures from email with Picture Viewer

When we get an email from someone and it has pictures attached (.jbg), and
then we open it, or double click on the attachment, picture viewer comes up.
It takes as much as 10+seconds for the picture to become visible. Sometimes
during the time it takes to come up it will say the picture viewer is "(not
responding)" but then it will eventually come up.

In XP I never had this issue or delay. I now have Vista home premium and
this confuses me.

Is there a fix or some way I can work around this delay.
