  • 1. Incorrectly reporting Download Status?!?
Win 2K Pro, IE 6.0 I'm having some trouble with SOME PCs using Internet Explorer. When I load one of my pages, I always get "Done" almost immediately, as the page contents flash onto the screen. With some PCs (same OS, same Browser version), The page contents display as fast, but for some reason the progress bar indicates that it JUST started downloading, very slowly. It eventually (several minutes) ends, and nothing new displays. On still more PCs (STILL Same OS and Browser Version), they never see the page contents. The pages are a mix of static HTML and html written via Javascript. No new images, no Flash or other multimedia. It would be FANTASTIC to have some tool that could look for exactly what is being "downloaded" in a browser at any given time. Any ideas? Thanks, guys.

The question is: Are you saved? It is not a question of how good you are, nor if you are a church member, but are you saved? Are you sure you will go to Heaven when you die? Again, in the Bible it is simply the SKY! And you need vehicle to go there. A dead pilot cannot fly. -- L.
  • 3. Adding sites to trusted sites
I need to add an IP to the trusted sites of 50+ users' browsers. Is there an easy way to script this in an AD domain? Is this a registry entry I can push out or through group policy?
  • 4. Accept Encoding
HI, my problem is that the Internet Explorer installed in my computer doesn't send ACCEPT-ENCODING header to web servers. In my website I can send gzipped page only to browsers that support this type of compression. In general IE6 support this compression, but I can't understand why my browser can't. I've tried with firefox, netscape and other IE6 installed in computers in my office, and they works. Is there a key in Windows registry that I miss, or whatever? Do you think a spyware may have changed the default setting? Any advice would be really appreciated. Daniele
  • 5. Save Target As fails to save
Can anyone tell me how Save Target As works? (i.e where temp files are stored etc). I ask because a group of users cannot use this to save any files in IE6 (SP2). The download appears to complete OK but the file never appears in the Save location. All other user groups work OK but the differences between them are mainly relating to desktop icons etc. Ironically,if the user simply opens the image/file etc instead and uses the 'Save Picture As' option, that works fine. Only using 'Save Target As' on the hyperlink doesn't work for any file type. I've also noticed that, for this group of users, the 'Notify when download complete' doesnt appear even though this is specified in the Advanced settings. I've been looking at this problem for ages and I'm stumped now! Any advice gratefully received!

Favorites sub-folder keeps disappearing

Postby Noangel » Fri, 18 Nov 2005 08:23:49 GMT

Hi All,

Some time ago, I created a sub-folder in my favorites list called
"shopping". Beginning about 6 months ago, every once in a while (often),
that particular folder disappears. EVERY other folder and link remains
intact. I've exported the list so that I can import it and restore the
"shopping" folder, but there's a major flaw with that. Unless I export the
list every time that I make an addition or deletion anywhere in the list
(sub-folders or direct links), the import of the backup will only restore
what was in place at the time of the export. I'm sure I could export only
the "shopping" folder, but again, I'd have to do with each edit.

Why is this folder disappearing and how do I make it STOP?!

PS
Checked Advanced tab in Internet Options and "Enable personalized Favorites
menu" is NOT checked.

Thanks in advance. This has be driving out of my mind!

Nancy

Hi Nancy,
I can't think of a reason why this should be happening. 'Shopping' may be
recognised by some anit-spy programs on your puter and they may be removing
the folder.
Have you tried renaming the folder to something else that does not include
the word shopping?

I don't know. Maybe your husband has been deleting it behind your back to
curb your spending!!

No, I haven't tried that, but I will. Thanks for the pointer.

4.Outlook favorite folders keep disappearing!

Hi,

As per subject line - my Outlook Favorite folders keep disappearing!

5.Favorites mail folders keep disappearing

I have an intermittent problem with the Favorites folder
in Mail. I'll add several folders that I want to keep an
eye on. Frequently, of late, when I reboot or quit OL
and then restart most of the folders I've added are
gone. Once everything disappeared, but most often it
seems that the last 2 or 3 that I've added are still
there but everything else has disappeared.

Anyone know what gives here?
