Hello, I have a problem with "Out of range line disappears in print as it re-enters graph" Here is what I did: I measured RF power and made a graph. After initial settling I switch off power, then after some time switch on. I measure and make a graph (plot). In order to get a good view of the settling I must zoom into the interesting area. The signal (line) goes outside my graph and re-enters. On the screen everything looks perfect. As I print the line LEAVING the graph prints but the line RE-ENTERING the graph do not print. The line start printing after the first data point in my graph. Is there i method to fix the printing? /Nisse -- Remove the obvious part before replying by mail please!

Automatic Charting Problems

Postby Jay » Sat, 26 Jun 2004 00:38:42 GMT

Hello,

Please bare with me as I try to explain my report &
problem.

I have a report, that has several rows of values that need
to be charted out. To avoid the hassle & headache of
having one million charts to see, I have set up a look up
table which the user can select up to 5 rows of values to
chart out on one chart.

In order for this to work, my chart has to be set on those
5 lookup rows. But incases where the user will only want
to chart out one row, the chart still is showing the other
rows that do not have information in them.

Now assuming I havn't lost you yet, are they any kind of
tricks that I can do with charts, so that it will not show
empty series even though it is included?

If it's easier, I can send out the actual file to anyone
who feel they'd be able to help me, or suggest other ways
around this problem.

Thank you,
Jay Gustafson

Jon,

Thank you for answering my post and giving me that link. Since my post, a
user of this forum has solved my problem via e-mail. But I will keep this
link for future reference.

Thank you :)

1.Automatic Chart Expansion Problem

For years, I've be charting temperature variations. As I added new
data points, the chart automatically expanded to accomdate the new
datum. At 72 data points, the chart stopped expanding automatically.

Anyone know if this is a standard limit to expanding charts? Did I
accidently turn some feature off? Is there a way to fix this?

I'm running MS Win and Office XP with all updates.

2.Automatic update of excel charts

3.Chart automatic sum

I have a huge list of invoices in an excel table, and would like to create a
chart that shows the cumulative number of invoices sent by month. What is
the best way to do this? When I create a chart with the "Invoice Sent"
column highlighted, that data becomes the data range, but what I actually
want the data range to be is the row count of invoices sent. Also, when I
try to switch the X and Y axes so that invoice sent date is on the X axis, it
gives an error because there are too many values (max of 255). However,
there should only be a few dozen x-axis values when I'm done, because the
invoices only span a few years.

What is the best way to work around this? I would love to be able to do it
without subtotaling and then charting the subtotal results.

Thanks

4.automatic date in chart

In January, Jon Peltier replied to a question of inserting a date in a chart
that would dynamically change.

"select the title, type = in the formula bar, then click on the
cell. This works with chart titles, axis titles, data labels, and shapes
(text boxes etc)."

It worked perfectly for me, however, there seems to be a continuous
iteration of the formula. When I click on any of the charts I have added
this to, the calculation seems to begin and it (along with the hourglass)
continuously blinks. I click off the chart and it ceases. Any ideas why?

Thanks,
casey

5.automatic updating in chart

In Excel 2003 I used scroll bars to set the limits on a dynamic range
of my chart. Basically, I used to "zoom in" on a particular section of
the chart. The chart would be instantly updated as I adjusted the
scroll bars. I am using the same method in 2007 but in this case the
chart is only updated when I release the mouse button. Am I stuck with
this type of performance or is there a setting I can change?
