  • 1. Macro to create a new chart
    I've been using this code for a while to easily create a new chart. However just recently has stopped working. It now created a "default" excel chart as a new tab in the workbook. Any suggestions?   • 2. is there any limitation to the quantity of line groups?
    In a line chart, when the quantity of the line groups is over 12, the line and its data will not coherent with each other? what is the problem?

    Is it possible to create a stacked area and area combo chart. I have 2 series that need to be stacked and one that needs to be just area. If I change the one, it changes all.

    Well I totally agree with miwilla. Furthermore I would like to add that obviously this problem hasn't even been solved in Excel 2007. I tried the beta 2 online and the same problem persists. If there is a workaround I would kindly like to ask you for an explanation. On the other hand I strongly recommend that the developers take care of that problem, since it affects many of us dedicated Excel users. Keep up the good work! Cheers Tobe

Disappearing Data Label in chart

I have Excel 2003
I have a clustered column chart that shows the date that a monthly report 
was turned in from each unit. I put data labels on each column that show the 
week number and the date, so the chart for October would show:
"Wk1
10/6"
or 
Wk1
10/22
but for one unit, the data label has disappeared. By clicking around I can 
find the box for the unit up at the top of the chart but if I pull it down to 
the position I want it in (and have also found the option for it and chose 
"center" ) when I click off of it it disappears again and is invisible at the 
top of the chart again! 
Any idea how I can fix this? I have done "chart options" / "data labals" and 
made sure everything is checked correctly, and clicked on the single column 
and clicked on "format" / "data labels" and made sure everything is checked,  
but nothing seems to work
any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as this is very annoying.

I have a couple of pie charts in a file that I've set data labels and values 
to show.  Everytime I close the file, when I reopen it, they're gone, 
although when I go to chart option, both are checked as being displayed.  If 
I uncheck the boxes, then recheck them, the labels and values show again.  
Everytime I close the file, the same things happen.

What's up with this?

2.Pivot Chart Data Labels Disappear

data series displaying as data labels.  When I choose different values in 
pivot table and the chart refreshes, I lose the labels and have to set them 
up again.  Is there anyway to keep the labels and have them refresh based on 
the revise pivot data?

3.How to rezize data label box in pie charts (label wraps to two lin 

When creating a pie chart in Excel then pasting into Powerpoint, I have 
trouble getting the data lablels to look ok.   Often times the font is so 
small it can't be read.  When you increase the font size, often a the label 
such as "October Sales" would be pushed to 2 lines with "October Sa" on the 
first line.   When you select the label, a box appears around the words, but 
it can not be resized, to get the label back to one line.    My work around 
has been to delete all the label info and leader lines and then to retype the 
info using drawing/text boxes.   Problem is the text boxes are not related to 
the pie chart and any changes to the pie chart data is not carried over to 
the new text boxes.   

Hope this all makes sense.

4.Disappearing Data Labels 

I am using Excel 2003 and have data in a XY Scatter chart.  I have an 
existing file where I would like to display the Series name as the data 
label.  When I open the file only a small number of data labels are 
displayed.  For instance, 2 out of 8 entries for one chart and 19 out of 36 
for another chart are displayed.  I must go into Chart Options and uncheck 
then recheck the Series Name box on Data Labels tab in order to have all of 
the data labels appear on the chart.  Even if I save the file after 
displaying all of the data labels the next time I open the file I'm back to 
having only a select few data labels displayed.  Any suggestions as to what 
is causing this or a way to prevent it in the future?

5.data label disappears when I move it 

I am working in Excel 2007.  I have a stacked bar chart I created with one 
data point that skews everything, so I changed the scale and just wanted to 
label that point (bar) to show what the actual value is.  The label shows up 
fine, but when I go to move the label to a different position on the chart 
with my mouse, it disappears.  The funny thing is, I have another chart with 
the same situation, but that data label moves just fine.  Any suggestions for 
this annoying problem?
