Hello all, Is there a way to link a chart to a cell on a spreadsheet that contains the date? What I want to do is generate weekly charts on production data, and pick up the date that's put in a cell and display it either in the chart title or near it. Can that be done? Thanks, Brian
  • 2. excel chart to tiff or eps format
Hello, I have created several detailed charts in excel for a paper that I am sending to a journal. The journal requires that my files have eps or tiff extensions. How do I convert the excel chart into tiff or eps? I have tried to 'print' to tiff with microsoft office document image writer , but the quality of the chart is too low. I also tried to copy and paste the graph into paint shop pro and to save it as .eps , but agai the quality is too low. Any other suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks. Raoul

Is there a way to display the error bar values on a chart (similar to how you display the data point value)? Thanks. John
  • 4. Different X-axis labels for different Series in same chart
Is there a way for me to make the X-axis reflect different labels for a 2nd and 3rd series in the same chart. In the 1st series when I put in the value for the X axis, I have it show this value in the data label and not along the bottom of the chart. I want to do the same thing for the additional series but when I go to change the X axis in the 2nd series, it changes it for the 1st series as well and since the information is different it doesn't do what I need it to. Please help. Thanks, Gabrielle

Horizontally Banded Chart Background. - on Stock charts

Postby JDB » Tue, 13 May 2008 08:54:39 GMT

I have 3 series of data, Hi/Lo/Avg that I am plotting using a Stock
type chart with 3 data points.

I want to use a Horizontally Banded Background to indicate the desired
range.

I have read and tested Jon P's excellent article on Horizontailly
Banded Chart Background, and tested it successfull on a line chart.

However when I test it on the 3 var Stock chart it does not work.

Can anyone give me a suggestion for a way to do what I want with
either my stock type of chart or an alternative way to show what I
want to indicate.

Thanks from American Samoa

Hi,

Can you provide a bit more information about what does not work exactly?

Cheers
Andy

The protocol should work with a stock chart. Sometimes when working with
different chart types within the same chart, you reach an intermediate state
which looks nothing like where you started nor where you want to go, but you
have to proceed with the next step or two, and the chart types will stop
fighting with each other.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I converted the chart to a series of line charts, used the vertical
line feature to get my hi/lo/average, and added the banded background
and bingo.

What had happened before was that the data was added to the first 2
existing data points, and I could not seem to make it work.

All is well, thanks for your excellent charting turtorials. Saved
many a day.
