I have an excel workbook that has twenty sheets to it. I want to be able to have individual people access different sheets for filling in data (assign a password to each sheet?). I do not want that person to be able to see other peoples info in other sheets. Can this be done? If you click on a sheet tabe it will ask you for a password? Trying to set something up that is idiot proof. thanks for your suggestions. sue

I have a name list which contains duplicate names, my questions are: 1) how to use the filter to find a name list that excludes those duplicates. For example, if A appears twice, only one A will appear in the final result; 2) how to save the results to another worksheet. TIA, Alice
  • 3. Locating a phrase in a woorksheet by formula
I have a workbook with a number of sheets that are named by a stock ticker symbol and contain information on the company with that ticker. I want to extract some of this information but it is not in a consistent cell in the sheet. Both the column and row number vary somewhat. The information is uniformly labeled with a phrase that is unique to each sheet and is located consistently with the label. So if I find the label I can find the data. I want to make a table of the data with rows named by tickers and columns by the labels such as "Gross Margin". I just can't find a way to locate the phrase without knowing either a row or column to look in in advance. Any suggestions? -- Tom Peacock 7730 Meadowvale Houston, TX 77063-6212 Cell: 832-439-5797 Fax: 713-782-5615
  • 4. Adding array brackets {} to all cells in a column??
Hi, I've got a very complicated spreadsheet which includes columns of arra formulae. I had all the formulae entered correctly and it was workin great until I changed something in the spreadsheet (?? it doesn' really matter what happened) which reset all my array formulae back t regular formatting - i.e. the {} were removed and the calculatio results changed. Now, I know that I could usually highlight each column or row and hi CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER to switch everything back to being {} bracketed However, in my spreadsheet each cell contains a DIFFERENT array an there are lots of blank cells scattered throughout that would have t be considered in my formulae too (which I don't want to do). So does anyone know any tricks to resetting ALL the formulae (in specific column or row) to be read as INDIVIDUAL array formulae? I' rather not have to go through 200 cells, pressing CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER fo each one so that my calculations come out correctly... Oh, and just in case someone's going to ask me, I'm using Excel 200 and this is an example of just one of my array formulae: {=(SUM(AA122:AA127*AC122:AC127))/(SUM(AC122:AC127))} Please help - I'm going crazy here. Thx,
  • 5. Excel- Cell formatting
When I put a whole number in a cell, the number is converted to a decimal number. For example, a "1" is changed to ".01. A message appears on the screen, "You must enter a number in this cell." This occurs in a new Excel worksheet as well as an Excel template. This condition just started. Excel is used in a basic application. Thanks.

How do I auto complete a cell with text from another worksheet?

Postby TWFyayBCYXJuYXJk » Mon, 25 Aug 2008 04:18:01 GMT

I have a long list of names and associated data contained in one worksheet.

On another worksheet, I have created a form that loads the pertinent data
associated with each name. I only use a few names from that long list at a
time.

My question: On the worksheet that contains my form, I want to auto
complete the cell containing the person's name.

For example: my "names" worksheet contains the names "Smith", "Jones" and
"Brown".

When I am working with the worksheet that contains my form, as I start to
type in "Smith", I want the cell to auto complete the name in the cell from
the list of names in my "names" worksheet.

Any ideas would be helpful. Thank you!

Mark

A ComboBox comes to mind.

See Debra Dalgleish's site for how to use a CB in conjunction with Data
Validation list.

3.Cell Auto-complete too slow when worksheet has 10.000 rows

Hi,
I'm doing a Excel 2007 VSTO template where I load a worksheet with between
10.000 to 15.000 rows of data, and was counting on using the built-in excel
cell auto-complete to speed future data entry. Nevertheless I noticed the
auto-complete is very slow, it takes a couple of minutes for excel to, after
starting to edit a cell, be able to finish the "internal scan" of all the
upper cells in other to be able to find a match. Is there anything I can do
to speed it up?

Thanks!!

4.Auto Complete not completing

Hi. I have an Excel document at work containing some drop down menus. I like
the Auto Complete feature that Excel uses and it has been working beautifully
except for this one column in my worksheet. For some reason it has stopped
auto completing and I am forced to either use the drop down menu or type the
whole thing in. :S

I have no spaces between rows, and I have made sure the Auto Complete
feature is switched on in the Options menu. It is working on my other columns
(regardless of whether they contain drop down menus or not). Any ideas?
Thanks so much.

5.How do I store frequently used text in Excel for auto-complete

Hi SA:

You can use AutoCorrect instead..For example, enter qu should be replaced by
question and its just as good autocomplete.
