Script Error
by Christi Bullis » Thu, 14 Aug 2003 07:54:34 GMT
When I receive an email from someone with a web page in
the body, or as an attachement I get script errors. When
the web page is in the body of the message, the Internet
Explorer Script Error appears when I highlight or access
the email. If it is an attachment, the error occurs when
I attempt to open the web page. I get the following:
"An error has occurred in the scripts on this page.
Line: xxx
Character: xxx
Error: Object Expected
Do you want to continue running scripts?"
This appears to occur when parts of the webpage cannot
load, or links within a page are no longer valid. Is
this common? Is there a way to turn off this warning?
Thanks!

Uh... Margie... Punctuation? You know: periods, commas, questions marks!
:-)
If this is your 2nd request, it still doesn't look very clear. First of all
when you open OE, you should not get an IE error. The error you're talking
about, is when IE finds script errors in pages. I think you can turn that
off by clicking the error icon in the status bar but I'm not sure that would
do the trick. This will: in IE (not in OE) click Tools - Internet Options -
Advanced and uncheck the box in front of "Display a notification about every
script error". Your problem should now be solved. Is it?
And consider switching back to IE or Opera instead of Netscape! ;-)

Archive of this error: http://www.**--****.com/
What is your Windows version? Did you upgrade to WinXP-SP1 or IE6-SP1?
Did you recently install the upgrade or the latest Cumulative Patch for IE
with your anti-virus application running?

I think it is interesting(?) that someone who claims to be having the
this problem appears not to have Q330994:
Subject: Re: IE6 Gives Script Error when trying to print

Also FWIW I was updating NT4 the other day and going backwards
through WU's critical list. I'm not positive but I think that I was forced
into the same order of patch application that you have shown above.
Perhaps there are some unobvious dependencies in those two?
Hmm... Dependency Walker shows that inetcomm.dll has an indirect
dependency on ALL of the modules listed in Q822925 and there is
a similar reverse dependency in the patch for the OE module.
I will try to get a look at the update log to check my recollection.
The machine is at my mother's so I can either excessively delay
commenting at all or do it this way.

I currently have the same patch list and having the same problem. No AV
running when updated. This is an OS clean install with all MS patches.

And once again, no details. What OS? What version IE/OE as indicated in
Help/About? If NT based system, what does the Event Log show? Please don't
hijack a thread. We have enough problems keeping one user straight and when
others jump in, it really makes it wild.
Please start your own thread and provide enough details so that someone can
hopefully start you on the road to an effective work around or repair that
will fix it for you. Thanks.

Script error
by Ozgirl » Sun, 31 Aug 2003 11:41:25 GMT
Out of the blue I am suddenly getting an error box when I click on any
mail that has a .jpg attachment. No other file extensions cause a
problem, just .jpg. It happens as soon as I click on the subject. I
can open the attachment but not before having to close the error box a
half dozen times. I upgraded to SP1 to see if it would make a
difference and it didn't. The message is as follows:
I.E. script error
An error has occurred in the script on this page.
Line: 113
Char: 1
Error: Syntax Error
Code: 0
URL: mhtml.mid://00001978/
Do you want to continue running scripts on this page? Whether you
click on yes or no, the outcome is the same, you can eventually open
the file but not without closing all the error boxes first.
I have changed nothing in my settings. No email checking selected by
virus software, no changes to firewall settings.
Win2000, IE 6.0 SP1

OE6 doesn't support the slide show. You must remove the registry entries
that were left over from earlier versions for OE6 to display images.

preceeded by the following script error:

Sounds as though you are preparing mail in Word or Front Page and pasting it
into Outlook Express. What happens if you just prepare a standard HTML
message that has never seen Word or Front Page?

Script Error
by Lew » Sat, 13 Sep 2003 04:13:40 GMT
I received an email from NFL Fantasy Football and when I
highlight the email, I get script error. I click yes or
no to question of "do you want to continue running scripts
on this page?". When I do click yes or no, it freezes up
and the error message will not close. I cannot access any
other folders in Outlook Express, so I CtrlAltDelete and
end the program and restart Outlook Express, but same
thing happens over and over. I have rebooted the
computer, still same problem. The Script Error refers to
line: 234 Char: 1 Error: Object Expected Code: 0
URL: mhtml:mid://00000006/
I have experienced Script Errors before using IE6 and they
always disappear after clicking yes or no. This is the
first Script Error I have experienced using Outlook
Express.
Thanks for reading and hopefully you can advise.
