Share an OE store file over a Network?
by Travis Pupkin » Mon, 14 Jul 2003 10:39:54 GMT
I just put together a home network between my old PC and a new notebook.
Is there any way to get OE on my notebook to use the same OE store that
my PC uses so I can view and reorganize mail on my notebook, but my PC
is the machine that downloads it from the server?

Sharing a common store folder over a network is not recommended.

You can clone your OE.

1.Sharing OE 6 massage store over Network
I have a Presario pre-loaded with Win XP SP 2 and IE & OE 6. I recently
bought a Dell also preloaded with the same OS although they offered Vista
Basic at same price which I declined.
I have a broadband connection and I use a Black Box Router with 4 ports and
two for printers.
Hence files are shared and we can access as well as print all docs from both
PC's.
I would ALSO like the Incoming Emails to be recd in both PC's. Is it
possible to do so - if I were to use the same CLSID which is in the Presario
by copying and pasting the mail folder location in the store root of the
Registry in Dell?!
Could this be an alternative to using a PostMaster, the Email Server
Software?!
Thanking you

2.OE files on a shared network drive?
I ddon't mind running OE on drive C, but it means I have a different set of
messages on each machine. I have an office upstairs and a lab downstairs,
and sometimes it's tiresome running up and down the stairs just to track
email or news.
Can I set up OE to store its messages and address book on a shared
network-accessible drive?

3.Moving OE files to Network Drive using Store Folder function
I want to use outlooks 'Store Folder' utility to keep my email folders on my
network peronal home directory. I have been able to put my address book
(WAB) there and access it from OE, but when I try to use the Store Folder, it
will not enable the 'OK' button when I select a drive off of my C drive. Is
there a way to make OE store the folder to my network folder?
Thanks,
