Password problems help!
by U2Nv » Wed, 13 Oct 2004 16:35:03 GMT
I have had outlook as my email for around 2-3 years now but after installing
microsoft office 2003 (and using the new outlook express) I have run into
problems. When I create a new email account everything is fine (ticked)
except for incoming mail, and this is because to do this you must enter a
username and password, although I enter the same username and password as on
my account and as I had before it just will not let me go to the next stage
and instead the same box keeps coming up asking for username and password.
Please try and help me, is anyone else having this problem? Hope to hear
from you soon.
Sco

We are confused (and you may be, too): Is your problem with Outlook (OL) or
Outlook Express (OE), Sco?

I'm not clear. Are you now using Outlook Express (OE) which is part of Internet Explorer
or Outlook97/98/2000+ which is part of Office? And which version? (If you don't know, in
your mail program select Help, About.)
The Invalid password error message can mean that any of the following are wrong:
- POP3 server name
- Incoming Mail Server Account Name (some require the full e-mail address
XXXX@XXXXX.COM , others just want the user part)
- Incoming Mail Server Password (often case sensitive)
- Incorrect use of Secure Password Authentication (SPA) - few severs use this
- Incorrect use of SSL - few servers use this
- The mail server is having temporary problems
Check these settings in Outlook Express at Tools, Accounts, Mail, Properties, Servers
(Advanced tab for SSL). Check with your mail service (generally your ISP) for the correct
values. If the values seem correct, retype them and click APPLY. In the event that the
account settings are corrupted in the registry, it might be necessary to delete the mail
account, restart OE and then set up the account again. In some cases it might be
necessary to set up a new identity in OE and create the mail account there.

2.password problems-HELP!
When I had a problem with my computer last week,(it
showed the CD wasn't present) I went to reboot bios. When
I hit the delete button when starting my computer it
asked me for my password.
I remember putting in a password when I first got my
computer because I didn't relize everything was already
to go.
The instructions that came with my computer said to go
into bios to set computer. To make long story short, I
set a password and now that a long time has passed, I
don't remember it.
Since I didn't know the password last week I had to
delete and reinstall XP.
I would like to delete the password option or at least
change it so if I have a problem again I won't have to
redo all of Windows XP again and lose everything.
Is there anyway to do it? I can not contact my computer
company because the 1 year time limit is up. (next time
I'll go with a computer company that gives a life-time
service)

4.Outlook password and "help and support" problems
I just loaded Office Professional 2003 and am trying to
use Outlook. It won't allow me to send and receive mail
without entering a username and password, but when I
enter the ones in my "accounts" page it won't accept
them. I've tried contacting Microsoft, but the help and
support page won't accept my product code and keeps
telling me to enter a valid one, even though I'm entering
the one on the "About Outlook" page. What do I do now?
5.Outlook Help Password Problems
I have Office XP Outlook 2002 SP3
Ever since I changed ISP providers I keep getting the account signon screen
asking me to save the password I check the box every time and it keeps
coming up. Do I need to create a new profile? I exported all my email and
was going to delete the account and try again but will that work or do I
need to create another profile?
All I did was change the properties on the Email Accounts when I changed the
ISP provider.
Any help would be great
Thanks
