  • 1. Outlook, BCM, and Accounting pro
Hi Guys, I have 3 questions to ask being new to BCM and Accounting pro. 1. Is it possible to create an appointment in the calandar of outlook where I can extract, merge, or collect the info from to put into a word document in order to send a hard copy of the appointment to a client? I can only see the option to print a memo of the details that is not a great way to present the appointment. 2. All three programs allow for the user to create 'user created fields'. It is possible that these fields be available in all three programs and not specific to one only. it would be great to manage these across these programs. 3. In accounting pro and BCM, currently invoices are used to create and manage billable items and statements are used to show payments and outstanding amounts. Is it possible to combine both of these forms to produce a invoice that can also show any payments made to it and a amount due in addition to showing just the total? Thanks for you help mike
  • 2. BCM 2007 Offline database disappeared
This morning I spent 5 hours updating/cleaning my opprotunities and adding some contacts. Shut down my computer to go and close a deal and when I restarted and opened BCM to convert the opportunity to an OA2007 sales order and PO - BCM could not find the offline database. Appearently, I had been working offline all day and the changes were not synchronized (I do have a backup from yesterday!) After working tech support, we cannot find the offline database anywhere (missing beyond limits). Anyone have any ideas (I know now to backup after that much work - even before rushing out to close a deal...)?
  • 3. converting a task to a project task
I just upgraded to Outlook 2007 with BCM from Outlook 2003. I have a bunch of tasks stored in individual task folders that I created for each client/project. I would like to take advantage of the BCM features. I've created Business Projects and want to make my existing tasks project tasks by linking them. I tried dragging and dropping (in many ways) as well as using the Link to Business Contact button on the ribbon in the task. Unfortunately, the only things available to link to from there are Accounts, Contacts and Opportunities. Doesn't make sense, since tasks are primarily linked to Busines Projects. Am I missing something?
  • 4. Link to Record is greyed out
I'm using Outlook 2007 with BCM on XP x64 I created a Marketing Program using Mail merge, etc. It is unable to link these records. Even a manual attempt at linking doesn't from Word doesn't work even though the COM Add-in is present and active. If I choose any other email that I have stored, Linking is available. However I can't manually link a word document or the emails created as described above. Any suggestions

Recovering BCM Beta data

Postby VG9t » Wed, 14 Feb 2007 23:38:02 GMT

I have the trial and now have lost all my BCM data. I was getting the
following until I deleted the BCM portion that was being loaded.

Outlook 2007 trial small business. On start up I get three error messages
that data entered in the beta cannot be opened in the contact mgr. So I say
ok to all and Outlook opens. When I click on the business contact mgr folder
under all mail items I get the above error message.

Help?

How do I get all my data back?

Let me try to understand your situation better. Is the following correct?

1.) You installed Outlook and BCM Beta 1
2.) You created Business Contacts
3.) You uninstalled BCM and Outlook Beta 1
4.) You installed the trial version of Office 2007 Small Business Edition
and Business Contact Manager
5.) When starting Outlook, you got the following message:
        "Recovering BCM Beta data"
6.) You removed BCM from your Outlook profile
7.) Now you cannot access your business contacts

Clinton:

I wish that were the case. I did the beta installs
Then the trial came out.
I uninstalled everything, I thought, but must have missed the uninstall of
BCM.
From then on I kept getting an error message that BCM wouldn't work with
this version, probably because the data was in the beta. BCM showed on
Outlook and after about 15 days of no responses from anyone, I just deleted
that folder.

But! After 21 days someone that answers to Stonemountain said he/she was
having the same problem. I am thinking my data is lost, but I think
1) they still have their and if anyone went deeper into their challege would
find that the
2) BCM folder is still there and that
3) they are continually getting the same error messages and that4) they
don't have BCM beta in their list of loaded programs as I didn't.

I think mine is a lost cause, but I didn't have much data there so any help
for Stonemountain would be appreciated.

Tom

om,

What I am understanding from your situation is you have upgraded Office to
final version and left BCM to beta version. If you want to use BCM, you will
need to upgrade BCM also. On small business trial download site, there are
two download files. One is Office installation program and another is BCM.
BCM file is X13-40150.exe. You will need to download this file, uninstall
Beta version of following components and install RTM version with
X13-40150.exe.

a. Business Contact Manager for Outlook 2007 (Beta)
b. 2007 Microsoft Office System Primary Interop Assemblies (Beta)
c. Microsoft Office Small Business Connectivity Components
d. Microsoft Office Accounting 2007

Once the RTM version of BCM is installed, you will see BCM configuration
wizard when you start Outlook. This will allow you to choose BCM beta data
and migrate them to RTM version.

Now, if you have succesfully installed RTM version of BCM and you never saw
BCM configuration dialog after starting Outlook, click Help->Configurare
Business Contact Manager menu in Outlook. This will launch BCM wizard.

Seems like last time I tried that BCM was grayed out and there was no way to
load it. But I will try again.

1.Recovering Data From BCM 2007

Frankly, I've had it with BCM... this is the third time it has mysteriously
stopped working. My set up is not all that complicated and I do nothing
particularly fancy. This time it just quit and I've spent DAYS on trying to
get it working. The program shows up in Control Panel (SP2)... but it just
won't open. Attempts to uninstall and reinstall are fruitless and I've tried
every suggestion I've found. The installation Wizard just quits. Or I'll get
to the point of selecting a new or existing DB and the program freezes when I
try to either.

The DB file(s) of contacts does, in fact exist--I can find it using
Explorer. I want my data... I'd be thrilled to be able to import it into an
Outlook and use it as a simple contact file... or even get it open as a
spreadsheet... I don't care if I ever see BCM again.

Any suggestions will be appreciated... please not the standard ones because
I'm sure I've tried all of those -- some more than once.

2.Recovering BCM data file?

My harddrive crashed, and I am replacing it. Meanwhile, I have a full backup
of that harddrive, in a "browsable" format. Since I'm using another computer
until mine gets fixed, and I have access to the original backup image, I
would like to recover my BCM database to my new computer.

Where in the file structure can I find the BCM database?

Thank you very much!
