Hello everyone, I have a couple of questions in regards to installing / configuring Business Contact Manager with Outlook 2003 on a Small Business Server. I have looked many places online and cant seem to find the information I looking for. What I want is to be able to have the installation pushed from the server and the database hosted on the server. So far what I have done is installed outlook 2003 with business contact manager on a workstation connected to the domain. Is there a way to push everything from the domain onto the workstations?? Thanks in advance for anyone who helps me out with this matter, and please let me know if you need further information as I will be checking this thread frequently.
  • 2. Outlook 2000 Contacts Sorting
I am having a problem where my Contacts in Outlook 2000 appear to be sorting by the address numerics as opposed to the name. When I go into View>Customize Current View and Sort, I tell it to sort by Full name. I have it set to address card view. However,to gray colored strip at the top of each contact contains the address and it is sorting by the numbers in the address, not the name as I want. I have looked for an hour and cannot figure out what I need to change. Help!

I am using Outlook 2007 with Business Contact Manager on a Vista (Ultimate) laptop. After I installed Office Professional, the BCM and Outlook Mobile Service would load when it wanted to. I've fixed the BCM with regedit, but the OMS is still loading when it wants to. ANY help with this would be very much appreciated!
  • 4. Security with Database-Sharing in Business Contact Manager
Hi, Is there a way to establish some sort of hierarchy of access with Business Contact Manager? I'm looking to find a way to establish different (maybe more advanced) groups/access permissions so that different sales teams can share information within themselves, but a member of one team will not be able to access another team's information. I'm hoping that managers/executives would also be able to grant themselves different access privileges so that they can view and edit all the information. Basically, I'm looking for a more nuanced way to let some people in and lock others out. Any input is much appreciated. Thanks!
  • 5. creating account email distribution lists
I am searching for a way for BCM to automatically create and update email distribution lists for Accounts. As Business Contacts are added or removed from Accounts, can a dynamic email distribution list be created? Or do I manually have to add and delet email addresses to a separate email distribution list in Outlook? Can it be done by creating Categories? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am trying to find a way to update my Contacts once without having to do two separate entries (in BCM and Outlook)! -- AnnaJ

Create New Contact from Same Company in BCM?

Postby TWl0Y2ggRA » Thu, 16 Aug 2007 05:24:01 GMT

I am a recent newcomer to Outlook 2007 and Business Contact Manager (BCM).

While working with my "Contacts" I am able to create a new contact from the
same company as one of my exisiting contacts. This is simply done by
selecting the existing Contact, and then selecting "Actions", followed by
"New contact from same company".

I can't figure out how to do the same thing within BCM. Any suggestions?

1.Outlook 2007 - BCM - Create Contact from existing company?

Hello, I was just wondering if there is a way to create a contact from an
existing company in the Outlook 2007 Business Contact Manager. Outlook 2003
BCM had it and it was great time saver. Adding all of my business cards from
trips now is almost unbearable as I have to enter all of the information
manually each and every time.

Any replacements for this? Is it just really hidden or just a missing feature?

Thanks for any advice.

3.auto-populating the company name field when creating a new contact

I've been manually creating several new contacts all from the same company
and it's a bit tedious. Is there a way to use/create a drop down menu box to
help populate some of the various fields such as the Company name field or
others?

I've been copying/pasting the company name from a newly made contact to the
nxt new one I'm making.
Thanks-

Sorry, I didn't realize that there was actually a BCM section and so posted

5.Creating BCM.Account & BCM.Contact items in Technical Refresh

I'm experiencing problems with an add-in I'm developing after installing the
Technical Refresh.

Previously when I created a BCM.Account or a BCM.Contact object, all the BCM
specific item properties existed, now none of them are so things are going
pear shaped in my application.

I can create these properties after I create the object but why are they no
longer created by default when the object is created. Seem a little bizare
that this used to work but now it dosn't, I can't believe that this is an
'feature enhancement'.
