  • 1. Can I add scanned images of prospects to the BCM record?
To capture a large number of contacts' data from business cards, I have scanned and OCRd the data using Scan Card. It captures both the data and an image of the card. I'd like to attach the actual card image for each contact rather than (or even better, in addition to) the electronic image of a psuedocard. Does anyone know how to make Business Contact manager automatically capture this as I import the data? I suppose I could manually attach each image after the data has created a Contact, but it will think it is a picture. If I do that and later want to add a real picture, will it cause a problem?

Synchronising to a PDA - 2007

Postby U3VlIEM » Fri, 09 Nov 2007 21:42:01 GMT

We are using the 2007 suite of Office, including Business Contact Manager.
The main database is set up on the office server, and we have several
salesmen carrying laptops and PDAs when they are out of the office.

We have no problems with the laptops, but now want to look at synchronising
BCM to the PDAs. In particular, the iPac PDA using ActiveSync.

I can't quite believe what I seem to be reading here, so just wanted to
double check by asking the very basic question:

Is this possible?

Thanks.

Sue

Yes, using Pocket Mirror or CompanionLink you can synch BCM contacts to the
Pocket Outlook database on your iPAQ.

Thanks Lon. I'm a bit confused why so many other posts here say it isn't
possible though.

Also, taking it a step further, would it be possible to synchronise just the
business contacts that are 'assigned to' one salesman, so each salesman just
takes away his own contacts?

Thanks again.

Sue

Sue:

I'm not sure about Pocket Mirror, but you can't do that with
CompanionLink...

Lori, I am not familiar with these programs. Can business contacts be
synchronized with ActiveSync (either desktop or Exchange)?

o, Active Sync and Exchange don't recognize BCM contacts, just Outlook
contacts. That's where these addon products take over and map the BCM
contacts into the contacts database on the handheld AS IF they were Outlook
contacts.

Lon

ompanionlink has a service to wirelessly synch to handhelds but I'm not
sure if it includes BCM.

Post a suggestion to Microsoft that they integrate BCM contacts into
Exchange -- maybe if we create a groundswell of demand, they'll respond!

Thanks,
Lon

It does work, but it has to be a tethered sync. Here is the link to the
software that requires activesync 4.1 or later:

1.Groups synchronising with PDA

I've created several groups of contacts in addition to having categories to
try and separate clients as much as possible. the trouble is when I
synchronise my PDA via Windows Mobile Device Centre.
The trouble is the original main contacts group is the only one getting
synchronised with my phone.
Is there a solution other than moving all the individual contact groups back
under the main one?

2.Outlook Contacts missing after synchronising with Dell Axim PDA

My PC is running Windows Vista with Outlook 2007. MY Dell Axim is running
Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition. I used to sync it with my old PC running
Windows 98 SE.
I'm running windows mobile device center on my PC and synched the PC and the
Dell Axim.
Everything seemed to work fine but I notice it has removed many of my
Outlook contacts on the PC and added a lot of old contacts offf the Axim.

Don't understand why it would remove any contacts off the PC Outlook 2007?

How can I easily restore them and insure it does not remove them again when
I sync?

3.active sync - outlook: synchronising attachements to PDA

When i have a appointment in my calender I can attache a mail to it with
attachements. So I can read via my calender the mail concerning that
appointment. But, when I synchronise with my PDA, the attachements are not
downloaded to my PDA.

Does anybody know how I can download these attachements?

4.Synchronising Handspring PDA

Anyone help, please. I'm trying to synchronise my pda with Outlook 2000.
Have been able to do this in the past on both this and other pcs. However,
now I can't get the Notes application to synchronise and the log file reads
as follows -

"HotSync operation started 06/01/2005 16:33:03
OK Expense
OK Outlook Calendar
OK Outlook Contacts
OK Outlook Tasks
-- Outlook Notes
Unable to attach to Outlook's default folder. Please see the online help
(Start/Programs/PocketMirror/PocketMirror Help) topic "Getting
Started/Troubleshooting" for steps to correct.
Error connecting to Outlook.
     Error Code = 1013
Outlook Notes synchronization failed
Conduit Error: Unknown error. (1013)
OK System"

I keep my *.pst file in MyDocuments for ease of backing up and, as I said,
this hasn't been a problem in the past.

The hint described doesn't solve this, partly because one of the menu items
to check in Outlook doesn't appear to exist on OL2000.

5.Synchronising Outlook on my PDA with outlook on laptop

I have a pda running microsoft active synch 3.7 and
outlook 2002. My laptop runs on Windows XP. When I
synchronise I get the message

No profiles have been created. Go to control panel mail
etc. and then the message Synchronisation cannot be
completed because your pesonal information manager (PIM)
programme cannot be accessed. Ensure your PIM programme
is running and try to synchronise again. If your PIM
programme is running restart your desktop computer.

I have previously installed pdas with 98 and me with no
problem.

Microsoft say they cannot help and HP say that I will
need to re install my operating system. I believe that
this is a known problem with XP and so do not want to go
the dramatic route of reinstalling my operating system.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
