I opened the port 56183 on the firewall, but still can't get BCM to run over the VPN. I can get to the server, but SQL Server (MSDE) does not see the server. My laptop only shows "Connect \\"

1.B2TR Outlook with BCM -- BCM will not run, uninstall, or repair
I was running Outlook with BCM 2007 without problems. I installed the TR and ran into trouble with the BCM TR. Now, I have B2TR Outlook installed and some form of BCM on my system. The uninstaller for Beta does not recognize the BCM version. Outlook B2TR issues an error at startup saying that the BCM version is incompatible. The uninstaller for B2TR BCM also fails. BCM B2TR is in a strange state. BCM will not run, will not uninstall, will not reinstall, and will not repair. What can I do to get this feature running?

3.BCM through OpenVPN (or BCM accessed both from LAN and from remote users over VPN)
Hello I am trying to do the following. I have a local network (192.168.111.0/24) where I have installed BCM 2007 (on 192.168.111.169). Users from local network can connect and use shared database. I need to provide the same functionality remotely. I found out it could be done using some VPN and I chose OpenVPN for that. Is it the proper way, and how can it be done? I was trying to route TCP port 5356 from remote network to local one, but I cannot connect with client Outlook to BCM database. Are there any other ports you have to forward? I didn't succeed with bridging remote network into local network either. Will be gratefull for all the comments and advices on this. -- --- Piotr Kierklo --- Systems Engineer at World IT Systems -- XXXX@XXXXX.COM --
4.BCM - Can it configured to run on SQL Server (not MSDE)
I have MS SQL Server installed on my computer to run with other apps and I have approximately 10 SQL Databases running. Business Contact Manager installed MSDE and wants to run in MSDE instead of detecting that SQL Server was already running on my computer. Is there any way to move BCM from its own MSDE to my existing SQL Server?
5.BCM installs but will not run
I installed BCM on a new computer after using it (and it worked) on my old computer. After installation, when Office was launched, I got a screen to setup BCM. When I tried to do that, I got the following message: "An error has occurred which stops Business Contact Manager for Outlook from starting. Remove Business Contact Manager for Outlook, and then reinstall it. If the error recurs, click Help." I un-installed and re-installed - didn't help. Uninstalled Norton, tried again, didn't work. I've tried several times. I have searched every resource I can find to get an answer, to no avail. I cannot find any other options to try to get it to work. I have Vista 64 bit on a new Dell M1530. It had been working well on my old computer. Outlook 07 is working fine. I checked for the presence of the SQL database and it's there. Thanks for any suggestions. Jim
