My inbox was showing in every business contact so I carried out the procedures detailed elsewhere in this discussion and it succeeded. However when I now select 'design a form' and choose business contact the form displaying in design mode has the inbox showing, instead of the history. Why? And how do I rectify this?

I'm getting the impression that I need a traditional 28 or 56 modem to enable me to auto dial a contact from Outlook. I just want to know if I can auto dial from a broadband modem. I keep getting an "internal error" msg when I try to start the call. Thanks, in anticipation..... deegeewa -- Yours hopefully!
  • 3. how to completely remove bcm - beta
I was a beta tester for BCM and no longer have the discs. I am trying to install a new 03 product (offiice 03 with BCM) which I recently purchased and the bcm will not install, as it says I have an older version on the system. I have tried to remove it from the control panel, but get a fatal error every time and it does not uninstal. I tried going into the registry and take out everything that has msbcm or bcm, but still can not get it off the system in order to install the new version, and the new version keeps telling me about the old verson and it won't install the new one until the old one is gone-- This seems to be the perfect 'catch-22'. please advise. thanks, S -- skiph

  • 5. Cannot import contacts into Outlook from Excel
I have gone through the Outlook wizard numerous times. I have selected and named the range (although the name didn't take). I make it through the entire import process in Outlook, but in the end nothing gets imported. I cannot convert to CSV because there are Cyrillic letters which turn into ?'s in that format. Any suggestions are appreciated.

BCM Update made things worse

Postby UmViZWNjYSBEZWxs » Sat, 19 Feb 2005 20:51:06 GMT

Hi all
I installed the Office 2203 Update and SP for BCM and it has made (the
already cumbesome) mail merge worse. I had been using a Word Document for
delivery instructions to our haulier by dropping in the customer name &
details held in BCM by editing the recipient list. The update has somehow
mismatched the datafields so that now the "Account_Name" and
"Primary_Contact" fields are blank and worse still there is no replacement!
The "First_Name" and "Last_Name" fields are now an mixture of the company
name rather than of any contact. It's all over the place really.
I really really want BCM to work because I put a lot of effort in setting up
all the accounts and contacts etc but it's a bit of a mess for a program by
such a high profile company. Are they going to release an update that would
make it workable?
Thanks
Rebecca

The Account folder in BCM is apparently intended for companies and
institutions, and just happens to inherit all the fields from Outlook
Contacts. The Accounts then have children Business Contacts that
represent the people you actually interact with.

If you want to communicate with people (send emails, automate phone
calls, mail merge, etc.) you should use Business Contacts.

Hi Luther
I just wanted to list the primary contact name. This used to be possible and
was working fine but is now available but blank in Word Mail Merge (but there
in BCM itself). AccountName and Company fields are also there but blank - the
only way to list the company/account name is as "Display Name". It is
definitely not working smoothly.

I ran into a similar problem with my merge documents. The fix was to open
accounts in phone list view and add the columns I needed for the merge. This
allowed me to see the account address and the primary contact name at the
same time in the word mail merge. When I change the accounts view I loose
some of the merge information, so I maintain a default view with all the data
needed for the merge.

How nice it would be to define the merge query and ignore the open view in
BCM.

Thanks Erik. Nearly have it sorted now but Word is bringing up a File
Conversaion Dialogue box now and I have to confirm that the Accounts info is
coming in in "unicode" each time. Would you know how to turn this off?

Also, Word gives warnings about running SQL commands when opening merged
docs. How do i switch this off?

Thanks
Rebecca

If you don't get an answer here, you could try your question in the
microsoft.public.word group.

The unicode warning is a little strange because Office11 is supposed to
use Unicode by default. If anything they should be warning you when the
info is not in Unicode as that's more likely to lead to munged text.

1.Outlook 2003 is going nuts, repair has made it worse

I don't know if there has been an update that affected Outlook 2003 in the
last two weeks but my copy is going nuts. First I noticed that my filtering,
emplying deleted folder, calendar notifications were not working. Then I
tried to add a calendar appt and it did NOTHING. From the Calendaring forum
they recommended I clear cache which I did, I then was told that my form was
bad when trying to add an appt, so I cleared forms, now it tells me that it
can not load forms. Then suddenly I get a message when I execute Outlook
that my "inbox assistant can not be displayed due to an unexpected error" ...
I have tried running the find and fix repair through Control Panel but it
does not help. In fact each time I run it something new seems to happen.
Oh, I forgot to mention that my Maxtor external backup suddenly says there is
an 'internal error' when trying to back up my PST files each night so it has
not been backed up for almost 2 weeks. I do have the Add-on to do daily
backups of my PST files to My Documents so it can be backed up to my external
hard drive.

Question: Is there anywhere to download a current Outlook 2003 program to
do a complete install (one with all the updates)? If so, how can I get my
hands on it?

2.Outlook 2007 with BCM better or worse than 2003 versions

I am having huge issues with the speed (or lack of speed) with Outlook 2003
with BCM. I am considering installing the new version 2007 with the
technical refresh on my XP Professional box (either that or having a bonfire
with my computer as the centerpiece).

I have a few questions:
1) Can anyone give me an idea if it is a positive step to do the upgrade?
2) Is it faster/slower/same?
3) Is it more stable?
4) Does it work with ActiveSync? and if so, does it do so WELL?
5) Other improvements? Other issues?

Thanks in advance.

3.Making the office assistant say stupid things

Is there a way to "hack into" the office assistant to change the
things he says?

E.g. instead of "It looks like you are about to write a letter", to
make him say "Don't even bother writing to them; they're not going to
read it anyway"?

I'm using Office 2000.

Thanks,

4.OUTLOOK 2007 VERY SLOW AND WORSE WITH B2TR UPDATE

WITH OVER 512 RAM ,,, AND FULLY SATISFACTORY WITH OFFICE 2003 SPEED,,, NOW
THE OUTLOOK 2007 IS SO SLOW, THAT IT HAS GONE TO THE POINT OF NON-FUNCTIONAL
AND HAVING TO LOG OUT OF OUTLOOK SO I CAN RUN OTHER PROGRAMS NORMALLY. BUT,
WITH THE UPDATE, THAT I WOULD HAVE SUPPOSED TO BE GOOD ENOUGH TO TAKE THIS
URGENT SUBJECT INTO CONSIDERATION, IT IS EVEN SLOWER. THE ISSUE IS THAT
THERE HAVE NOT BEEN NOTICEABLE IMPROVEMENTS TO JUSTIFY THIS ADDITIOANL MEMORY
THEFT. THE RIBBONS AND QUICK ACCESS BARS ARE CERTAINLY NOT AN IMPROVEMENT TO
JUSTIFY IT.
