I have appreciated useful information from the group in the past... thank you all. 1. When I use my Cingular 8125 with Pocket Informant 2007 PIM software - my contacts and caller ID only works for my regular contacts... not BCM contacts! 2. Additionally, within Outlook and BCM, when I move files between regular contacts and BCM contacts, I end up creating duplicate files... it doesn't automatically recognize the duplicates the way it does when you save or download new contacts. My accounts and business contacts emptied their contents. The files remain in the documents and settings file but I cannot open them or import the back up. I now have what appear to be new but empty accounts and business contact folders in my contacts folders. The original files appear in the address book list but cannot be opened. I did down load the hotfix package but it made matters worse and so I uninstalled it Any thoughts anyone I recreate? -- Thnx MS
  • 3. BCM Install Files
Hello, I have a few users running Office 2003 Pro and want to install BCM for them. I always have issues when using the "BCM Update for Outlook" CD that I have. Where online can I find the executable download for BCM for existing installs of Outlook 2003?
  • 4. bHow do I get usiness contact flags to show on reminder alerts?
Hi, I set up Business Contact Manager and moved the relevant contacts out of my personal .pst over. The problem is that now I cannot get the flags I set on any contacts in the Business Contact Manager to come up as a reminder the way they used to when they were in the personal .pst. In fact, I double checked and my "personal" ones in the .pst call a reminder up just fine when flagged. This problem essentially makes the flag function useless for all my business contacts. Any ideas?
  • 5. Program Quits Unexpectedly
Running the latest (updated) version of BCM, the program shuts down when attempting to drill-down in a report. In other words, the initial report returns data, but shuts down if an attempt to filter or sort that data occurs. This is only on one machine. This does not happen on the handfull of other systems running the same setup (XP Pro, Office 2003 Pro sp1, BCM).

How to use Outlook with Business Contact Manager

Postby VkNRIENvbnN1bHRpbmcsIEluYy4 » Mon, 27 Sep 2004 13:33:01 GMT

I've installed Outlook with BCM, but have been unable to use the BCM. Upon
starting Outlook, a message displays that asks if I want to use BCM. I click
Yes, and a couple of seconds later I receive an error message that states:
Database creation has failed.

I've been unable to uncover helpful info to resolve this issue until now,
and would like to utilize BCM for my business marketing and prospecting.

Thanks in advance,

I contacted Microsoft support with the same issue and the first question was
o you have an apostrophe in your user name I have an apostrophe in the
machine name, which carried over into the user profile. Unfortunately,
removing the apostrophe from the my profile did not resolve the problem, so
we had to create a new profile and move all of my documents, the pst file,
favorites, etc. BCM seems to work fine now.

Thanks so much for your help! I have an apostrophe in my last name. Whatever
further information you have on creating a new profile and moving everything,
I would certainly appreciate. Painless is better...

3.Using a form created in My Contacts in Business Contact Manager

Hi. I am using Outlook 2007.

I created a custom form in My Contacts that I would like to use in my
Business Contacts within the Business Contact Manager. The form is published
to my personal forms library. When I attempt to set this custom form as the
default form for my Business Contacts, I get the following error:

'Could not complete the operation becuase the service provider does not
support it.'

Is there any way around this? Thanks.

4.Add contact to Business Contacts in Business Contact Manager f

If the manual way of doing it that Monica describes does suit your needs,
there is a quick way to add a Business Contact from an e-mail. Especially if
you want to add many at a time, in a few clicks. The method is a little
obscure, but here is how:

1. In your inbox's list of incoming (or any other) mails, right click the
e-mail.
2. Then select "E-mail Auto-link".
3. A dialog box pops up with all of the addresses in the mail.
4. The ones that you currently do not have a Business Contact for have
"unknown" in the column.
5. Select the one(s) you want to make into Business Contacts and click OK
6. The Business Contact has been added, and will have its e-mail autolinked
as well (which can then be turned off again if you don't want it).
7. Now fill in the rest of the Business Contact information as appropriate,
as Full Name and e-mail address are already populated in the Business Contact.

Thanks for your interest in Business Contact Manager for Outlook.
