Business Contact Manager cannot find database
by Umlja1M » Mon, 30 Jul 2007 05:18:01 GMT
My IT Manager recently created a new Login on my laptop and now Business
Contact Manager cannot find my database. It created a new (empty file)
MSSmallBusiness2.mdf and MSSmallbusiness2.ldf file.
I found my original .mdf and .ldf files under the local settings\app
data\bcm folder under the old user login and copied it in but it still won't
recoginze it. Even tried renaming to the MSSmallbusiness2.mdf and 2.ldf but
it still doesn't recognize it.
HELP please!

This is just basic security. User1 cannot access User2's data.
An administrator should be able to copy the old database's mdf file to
your new login's bcm folder, and go into the database with sql tools
and make you the owner.
I don't think BCM has a feature to transfer ownership of a database.

Which SQL tool should be usedd I sent the file to one of my SW eng's with the
Developer kit and when he opened it, the permissions were set to his PC???
Does he need to do this directly on my PC?

Set up then asks if I want it to create a new database, and I answer "yes".
After trying, Set Up is unable to create a new data base.

5.Business Contact Manager database cannot be loaded
BCM has just failed to start in outlook 2007 with a long error message a
summary of it I have included below:
________________________________________________
This action cannot be completed because Business Contact Manager cannot
access the database.
A system assertion check has failed. Check the SQL Server error log for
details. . . . . consider running DBCC CHECKDB . . . .
an error occured at log record ID (433:9983:68)
Login failed for user 'Hobs\aboc'
Location: page.cpp:4604
Expression: roLength > = offsett + deleteLength
SPID: 51
ProcessID: 108
Do you want to change the database config?

If someone could please help me understand what has happened and how to run
DBCC / or repair the database I would be grateful. I don't want to have to
try a restore an older backup and lose my recent activities.
Many thanks, Adam
