  • 2. Any way to synch BCM with an iPaq?
Using OL2007 and BCM 2007 and an iPaq 2755 pocket PC. Is there any way I can get my BCM contacts to synch with the pocket pc? I already synch my regular contacts successfully. Then I decided to go to BCM. I'm wishing i didn't move my business contacts from Contacts to BCM now since now I can no longer see them on my pocket pc. Arggh. I tried to install the "Outlook 2007 or 2003 with Business Contact Manager Add-in: Business Contacts for Pocket PC" but it says I have an "unsupported device". Bummer. Any help appreciated! TIA. Ray

Lon, I want to buy your book. I thought I had bookmarked a page where I could purchase it but that page ended up being only a review (albeit a positive one). Where can I buy your book? Thanks, Darin
  • 4. Contacts display errors
Got a new PC somtime back, since my old PC was loaded with an OEM version of Office 2003 Pro SBE, I had to purchase a retail box of Office 2003 Pro this edition was not SBE. I import my old pst file to this outlook but have been having a slight annoyance opening some of my contacts. Those contacts that were marked as SBE contacts generate a scripting error when attempting to open them with the current version of outlook. Is there a way to change these contacts from SBE to a general contact or maybe a better solution.

Business Contact Manager cannot find database

Postby Umlja1M » Mon, 30 Jul 2007 05:18:01 GMT

My IT Manager recently created a new Login on my laptop and now Business
Contact Manager cannot find my database. It created a new (empty file)
MSSmallBusiness2.mdf and MSSmallbusiness2.ldf file.

I found my original .mdf and .ldf files under the local settings\app
data\bcm folder under the old user login and copied it in but it still won't
recoginze it. Even tried renaming to the MSSmallbusiness2.mdf and 2.ldf but
it still doesn't recognize it.

HELP please!

This is just basic security. User1 cannot access User2's data.

An administrator should be able to copy the old database's mdf file to
your new login's bcm folder, and go into the database with sql tools
and make you the owner.

I don't think BCM has a feature to transfer ownership of a database.

Which SQL tool should be usedd I sent the file to one of my SW eng's with the
Developer kit and when he opened it, the permissions were set to his PC???
Does he need to do this directly on my PC?

Set up then asks if I want it to create a new database, and I answer "yes".

5.Business Contact Manager database cannot be loaded

BCM has just failed to start in outlook 2007 with a long error message a
summary of it I have included below:

________________________________________________

This action cannot be completed because Business Contact Manager cannot
access the database.

A system assertion check has failed. Check the SQL Server error log for
details. . . . . consider running DBCC CHECKDB . . . .

an error occured at log record ID (433:9983:68)
Login failed for user 'Hobs\aboc'
Location: page.cpp:4604
Expression: roLength > = offsett + deleteLength
SPID: 51
ProcessID: 108

Do you want to change the database config?

__________________________________________________

If someone could please help me understand what has happened and how to run
DBCC / or repair the database I would be grateful. I don't want to have to
try a restore an older backup and lose my recent activities.

Many thanks, Adam
