  • 1. Shared db and customizations acting strange between users
BCM 2007; shared DB on SBS SQL2005: 1. Create, modify Search Folders or user fields, : no problems. Other users see new search folders and changes to existing search folders instantly. Impressive! 2. Customize Master Category List: Problems: User A creates new categories and assigns colors to them, then assigns catagories to contacts. User B's Master Category list does not get updated and when he looks at the contact, the category text is there, but not the colors. 3. Views: Problems: new views created by User A are seen by User B. However, if User A then changes the View's filter, User B's copy of the View does not get changed reliably, especially if the view's filter uses the category field. If you jump around a lot in both users, the changes sometimes eventually show up for User B. I haven't been able to pin down the sequence that triggers the transfer. I assumed that all the customization paramers are stored in the SQL db and would thus take effect for all users seamlessly, but there seems to be some subtlties. If anyone can explain this or tell me how to make it work, I'll much appreciate it.
  • 2. BCM doesn't come back online automatically
Hello: I'm running BCM for Office 2007 on a SQL 2005 server, and syncing with my laptop so that I have have the database offline. I configured the BCM to automatically go offline/online, but I cannot get the BCM to automatically re-connect after being offline. I have to manually remove the "Work Offline" check from the BCM menu. Can anyone shed some light on this that might make it work better? Thanks.

Try creating a new database.

I am getting the same message (could not connect to shared database) but am

I can ping my own computer so I know that I am connecting to the "server".

Perhaps related (or another problem for another thread)...at the same time
that this error showed up I also had the "host search protocol" (or something
like that, I am working from memory) crash.

Further thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks.

2.Can manager connect to more than one Business Contact Manager

3.Using Business Contact Manager will not connected to database

We have two salesmen working from laptop and one from a desktop. If we
install BCM on the server everyone can share it when on the network or over a
VPN. However, if the salesmen are disconnected from the network, (that is on
the road or plane) can they still open the contacts, accounts and
opportunies? Will they synchronise when they next connect?
