KInd Regards,

When you modify the user fields in BCM, that information is stored in
the database, and will be used by all of the database's shared users.
I don't know when that data gets refreshed; if its everytime you open
a form. But at a minimum, everytime you start Outlook, BCM will fetch
the latest user fields information from the database.

The BCM clients should get updated immediately: they poll for DB changes
every second and will pick up the schema change at that time.

Yehia:

You first asked about "forms" and they answered about "fields". Did you
customize BCM forms or the database schema (add additional fields)?

Ron: as BCM polls for database changes and updates the schema, will it
update the offline database's schema stored on a laptop also? Or, does that
happen when it synchs?

Thanks,
Lon

Hi Lon,

By modifying a form i had meant adding user defined fields to the
existing form. Once you add a field i believe the database schema is
also modified on the SQL server.

I have not found a way to actually modify the form physically, as in
modify layout and/or the existing defualt fields. If you know of a way
i would appreciate some references.

Cheers,

I'm trying to get more info but it's hard to find... In the Outlook
newsgroup, the generally accepted wisdom is that "it's possible" but not
easy and not too reliable, especially getting multiple users in your
workgroup all on the same form. If I get some concrete info, I'll post
again...

Thanks,
Lon

1.Installing BCM2007 and Sharing?

Hi everyone!

Our company has grown a bit and it's just no longer working with a excel
sheet to manage the contacts and accounts so they assigned me to check whats
out there... BCM seems to be a sweet solution since it's integrated nicely
into outlook that we all are using. Found some different web based CRM
solutions but none of uss wanted to have 2 diferent systems. ie. web and
outlook...

I have 2 small questions though, I've tried to search and read some of the
posts here but I just wanted to be real sure about this:

1. We already have a SQL server on the company server, as I understood it
BCM will see that it's installed and use that one for the database instead of
installing the one that come's with it. or am I wrong here?

2. All the users that want's to connect to the db through the VPN we have
needs to have exactly the same login both on the "home-computer" and on the
server... isn't there anyway to go around this one, seems like one of the
biggest draw-backs since multiple accounts on the server sounds like a bad
idea!

Thanks for any replies about this!

2.add modified field to another field

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone would know how to take a field created in a custom
form for a task. The field is DATE and everytime the date is modified I
would like an audit trail on the form that shows a list value of all the
dates that were changed in a field called modDate.

Help would be greatly appreciated..

Derek.

3.How do I modify fields in an access table linked to outlook

I am using Access 2003 and Outlook 2003: I have successfully linked Access
with my contacts in Outlok but the table does not include all the fields I
want. Is it possible to add or modify fields to this table?

4.Exporting Date Modified Field

I'm trying to export Outlook 2003 Contacts to a .csv file. I want to include
the MODIFIED field, which is a data field automatically stamped by Outlook.
(It shows up on the FREQUENTLY USED FIELDS tab when displaying ALL FIELDS on
a contact.)
It doesn't come up as one of the mapped field choices when the wizard asks
you to map fields to export.

Anyone know how to export this field?
If not, anyone know how to filter an export to include only those contacts
whose MODIFIED field falls within a certain date range?

TIA,
Kathy
