Hi all, Just got all of my contacts into BCM (around 2,000). I'm in the test phase of creating a direct mail marketing campaign to selected contacts. I have my letter set up and can use the Address Block ok. Within the Address Block editor the addresses preview ok. However, within Mail Merge preview and within the final letter generated there is a problem with multi-line addresses whcih get displayed and printed with a square (unprintable character) between the multiple lines. I also tried to pull out the individual street lines instead of using the Address Block, but it looks like there is no such concept within the database. It looks to me like the multiple lines are stored in the "Business Street" field separated by line-feed characters but that those characters aren't being handled properly within Word. Does anyone know a way of handling this ? If not I'm going to have to go back to my original Excel source and manage it from there. I wanted to use BCM to track the leads and opportunities.
  • 3. Sharing BCM Database Over VPN
I am trying to share the BCM database file on a XP Pro SP2 Machine (JAKE) [I have BCM Integrated with Office Accounting Professional 2007] in the Office with a Windows Media Center PC (using the Banana hack/Tool) [This machine was also inthe same office on the same LAN {but has been moved to a different office, different LAN but still configured as a member of it previous domain]. I log on to both machines with the same domain username and password, Using the same outlook account and profile. I use the "Shortcut to Connect to Small Business Server" tool to connect to the server at the office. When I use the "Creat or select database..." on the Media Center machine I get the following message "Cannot access the database server on computer JAKE. For more information, click Help." Is there a way to resolve this? Should outlook be running on both machines to share the database? Thank you

Hi, Just started using Outlook BCM. Is there a way that I assign independent account reps to either accounts or contacts? If not, I might have to abandon the program. PaulZ
  • 5. Shared calendar in BCM 2003
I am setting up BCM 2003 to run on Outlook 2003 for 8 users. I apparenlty cannot store the shared contacts on the SBS 2003 server, so will put them on a local computer. (For backup pruposes, where is this folder located?) I do not see how to use one calendar that everyone can see and change. How do I set that up? Thanks. -- Arthur Priver

I have approxiamently 250 contacts and have been testing and playing with BCM.
I am fairly happy with everything and with all the links and everything I
created for testing I want to start fresh. I want my contatcs there, but to
wipe out all the links to emails to start over so that way all links are
legit.
Is there an easy way to do this without uninstalling and reinstalling?

Export the Contacts and Accounts, create a new database, then import
the Contacts and Accounts.

Menu File|Import and Export|BCM
Then in the wizard export to BCM file, Export Everything,No History and
No Products.

Menu BCM|Database Tools|Create and create your new database.

Menu File|Import and Export|BCM
Then import the file your exported above.

I had trouble with my pocket pc and Activesync. I need to erase all the

2.OL2007 on Vista clears the clipboard when a new email is started

Ok, this is not exactly life and death, but if anyone has time...

I just started using a Vista machine with Outlook 2007. I am in the habit
of composing email text using a favorite keyboard-based text editor on which
I am very fast, and then pasting the text into the email window. So I...

(1) Compose the text in the text editor.
(2) Copy the text.
(3) Open a new email in Outlook.
(4) Paste the text into the email.

However now step (4) doesn't work, because the copied text is no longer in
the clipboard after step (3). I have to reverse steps (3) and (2). I do this
many times a day so it's a bit of an annoyance.

So it would be a convenience if I could convince Outlook not to zap the
clipboard when a new email is started. Any thoughts on how to do this?
Thanks for any help.
