Does anyone know a way to archive business projects? Right now, as I see it, once you delete a business project, and any tasks associated with it, it's gone. We would REALLY like a way to archive the business projects once they are complete without them sitting in the "Open Business Projects" list with simply a "Completed" status. Has anyone come across this, or had to address this? Thanks in advance!

Overwriting of BCM Database when creating a new one??

Postby QW5keQ » Fri, 09 May 2008 04:58:00 GMT

I spent about a week creating a database of business contacts with BCM. Then
I wanted to create a new database for "job applicants", ie a new category of
business contacts. Didn't know what else to do, so I did "create database"
with a new name. I hadn't backed up the original database.

Did I overwrite the original database with the empty new one? I cannot find
the data in the original one, it still shows it to me to connect to and to
select, but it is always empty.

Can I kiss the data goodbye or is there some place where I can find back the
old data.

Thanks, Andyy

1.VPN causes BCM to create new database

When I connect to a BCM db through a VPN, the system seems to think it is a
new db, and runs the initial setup, prompting to create an offline copy, etc.
When in the office, I can connect using the server name (\\server), but I
have to use the ip address when connected thru the vpn. (The VPN is Hamachi,
and the server's ip address is different than when connected locally in the
office.) This causes two databases to exist on the laptop, and defeats the
ability to work offline from a laptop.

Is the VPN the issue? Why does BCM think it is a new db? Would using a
hardware vpn solve the problem?

Thanks in advance,
Dennis

2.Trouble creating a new database in BCM 2010

I bought 2010 Office, and want to use Business Contact Manager. I have been
using 2003 Outlook, but not BCM. With 2010, I can load BCM, and Outlook 2010
Database Tool runs through the Database Server Instance where it shows
SQLEXPRESS,point of asking for a database name. After that point, I get an
error msg, saying it "Cannot create a new database. The operation has been
rolled back. Please be sure the database service is running".

Can you help to get me past that point?

4.Getting Old bcm database to new PC with BCM Installed

I recently upgraded to a new PC. I have installed MS Office 2003 and all
updates
I have been unable to successfully get my old Business Contact Manager
database into the new software by trying to get the new PC/BCM to recognize a
backup copy of the old database and integrate it into the new PC program.

Can anyone explain to me how this should be done? I'd rather not convert to
a .csv file if I can avoid it. Isn't there a way to get the new Business
Contact Manager to recognize the old database and just bring it in?

thanks

Dave

5.outlook 2003 with bcm new profile, but need old bcm database info

Hi, I am trying to help a small business owner who split off from his
partnership that had a domain with exchange, but his new office only has a
workgroup with no domain. He is looking for his business contact manager
database, which will be under his old profile. Is it possible to restore the
old bcm database in an old profile to his new workgroup profile? Any help in
this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
