I am receiving error messages when I click the BCM folder in Outlook 2003.I am using Windows XP Your .oft file for message class IPM.Contact.BCM.Account has a wrong version.Request version 2.00.3516.00,.oft form version 1.00.1616.00..does any one know how to correct this problem? Isee the BCM folders but don't see the tool bar functions, nor can I retrieve a data base. Can anyone help me with this?
  • 2. Managing contacts
When I click "lookup Outlook contact" I get the error message "Cannot find a contact with this email address". I know that the contact exists but it is stored in the Business Contact Manager address book (local database). I understand that Outlook is searching only through the standard 'personal folders' for contacts. Surely there must be a way to resolve this and set Outlook to search through either a different contact folder or even ALL contacts? There doesnt seem a lok of point having multiple contacts folders if you cant search through folders other than just 'personal folders'. Another problem very closely link with this is that when I do 'add to contacts' by right clicking on the new email heading, Outlook will only add the contact to the 'personal folders' contact book and not straight into BCM contacts. Can somebody offer some advice please? Outlok version: 2003 Business contact manager: v2 (update) -- Danger shines like sunshine in a brave mans eyes!

Outlook 2003 with BCM fails

Postby VGVjaHNob3Bz » Tue, 12 Oct 2004 06:59:03 GMT

My emails send and recieve once only then stop. If I re-boot they send and
recieve once only and stop. Any thoughts. It must be BCM issue as until this
was updated with the service patch everything was OK

1.Help restoring BCM from failed BCM 2003

I desperately trying to move my BCM 2003 from my old laptop to a new laptop.
The BCM on the old laptop no longer has the BUSINESS TOOLS link on the menu.
I tried copying the MDF files over to the BCM folder in the APPS DATA folder
in the user profile folder but it says that the MDF is of a newer version. I
have applied all the patches, including the SBA patch.

There may be a work around! I also noticed that I have a new instance of SQL
on the called SQL EXPRESS. When I setup my profile, I can connect to the new
instance called [MACHINENAME]\SQLEXPRESS, and actually link to the new
version of the MDF. However, when I restart or open the PROFILE, it wants to
view the previous MDF/profile. Is there a registry entry or a setting
somewhere that I can tell BCM to look for the new instance and use the proper
MDF? In this way, I won't have to every battle exporting the database from
my old laptop, whose BCM is kindly broken.

I would really appreciate the help.... Mui mui mui thanks in advance.

2.BCM and Outlook problem ( BCM fails to start)

Here is the scenario. After starting outlook, I click on BCM and the
drop-down comes up, I select accounts and Outlook unloads. I can click on BCM
then on the dropdown I select BCM home. That does come up but the default
goes to sales. Then I click on home and a message appears that says "Business
Contact Manager for Outlook could not complete your last action or actions.
Please try again" I click on OK and the action is completed. Then I can click
on accounts. The same message as above appears and when i click O.K. the
accounts are there.
after working in "accounts" if I click on anything else "mail, calendar or
notes" Outlook unloads again..
Here is what I have tried.
I have gone to the services and made sure all of the SQL services were
started. Some were in manual and I changed them to automatic.
I the looked at the event log and I show an error. The source is
"MSSQLServerADHelper ". Under description it says " "0" is an invalid number
of start up parameters. This service takes two start up parameters."

I am using XP and using outlook 2007 with sp2 with BCM version 3.00.8619.01
I have searched numerous sites that have got me this far, but I am stuck. Do
I have to uninstall BCM and reinstall.

3.Beta Setup failed for Outlook 2003 with BCM

Installing Outlook 2003 with Business Contact Manager. The
setup runs right to the end then fails by putting up the
dialog
"Business Contact Manager for Outlook 2003 Installation"
"Setup failed to configure the server. Refer to the server
error logs and setup error logs for more information"
<OK>

Its not <OK>! Can anyone help me? What have I done wrong?
I'm using the version I downloaded from the "Update" site
at Microsoft.com.

4.BCM fails to work in Outlook 2003

After clean install of Office 2003 I tried to install BCM. Hoever, after
opening Outlook and automatic completion of database BCM returned an error
message which could be sent or not to MS and Outlook closed. I tried
reinstalling BCM but still the same. Outlook will only run after BCM was
uninstalled. Any suggestions to fix this problem?

5.Reinstalled Outlook 2003 but BCM install fails

Stand alone PC. When in Outlook opens it starts the process of installing
BCM but it gets to the Database page and....

If i try and "Select a database" it states "BCM for Outlook could not find
the database you are looking for. Verify that the network...."

If I choose Create a New database it states, "The database cannot be
created".

I have loaded every upgrade including the BCM upgrade and the Pocket PC
upgrade, yet it still will not work.

Is the problem with the SQL server, I looked in Task Mgr and saw no
MSSQL$MICROSOFTSMLBIZ process running (one post suggested that).
