Is it mandatory to install SQL Express with BCM 2007? If you want to use BCM 2007 with a SQL Server 2005 central server, do you still need to install the SQL Exoress 2005 Small Business instance in each client machine? Thanks in advance for your help!

Outlook 2007 + BCM. I know how to add new opportunities and save them, but how to send generate sale offers from them. It seems somehow stupid for me to manage item and service lists, add them to opportunities if I cannot generate nice-looking HTML-emails like ITEM DESCRIPTION ..AMOUNT....PRICE item 1 short description1 item 2 short description1 TOTAL PRICE xxxx USD Even better if I could make templates into these information from the opportunities would be gathered. If this is not something I can do now with BCM, any idea how this could be implemented?

For the last four days I have been trying to install BCM 2003 on Vista. It was so frustrating that I thouhgt I would post my resolution to help others. 1) Install outlook and make sure it is fully updated 2) Install BCM and make sure you have all updates installed up to SP4 3) Make sure you have all the updates for both Outlook and BCM installed 4) Install Microsoft SQL Server Express (MSSMLBIZ) 5) Install the BCM SP4 patch After I did all this I enabled BCM and was able to import my database. I am not as knowledgable about these things as others here. But I finally got the thing to work with the information shared here. The crux of the matter was making sure Outlook and BCM had all the patches leading up to SP4. I tried over and over to install SP4 but could not untill I had these patches installed. After this it was a breeze. I am not sure if installing SQL Server Express is necessary but it was suggested here and it was part of what I did. I hope this helps.

How to restore BCM Database after upgrade from Vista to Win7?

Postby RWQuRXNjYXJkbw » Sat, 06 Feb 2010 05:13:01 GMT

After upgrading OS from Vista Ultimate to Win 7, I have this problems with
"Business Contact Manager for Outlook":
1. Each time I open MS Outlook, I am asked for permission to "allow the
following program (MS Office Outlook) to make changes to this computer". This
didnt happen before the change to Win 7.
2. At the end of the opening process of MS Outlook, I get the following
message:
"Business Contact Manager for Outlook could not complete your last action or
actions. Please try again." This didnt happen before.
3. When searching for Outlook messages (Inbox, for example) using the
"search" box above the messages, the tool doent find messages posted after
the OS upgrade.

Reintegrate BCM

Backup the database.

Deactivate BCM add-in.
Restart Outlook.
Reactivate it.

What happens?

1.Cannot update BCM 2007 database after Vista upgrade...

After upgrading from Win XP PRO SP2 to Vista Ultimate, cannot restore BCM 2007
database. Error message says "Cannot restore this database because you were
not authorized to back up or restore databases when this one was originally
backed up. For more information, contact the database owner or the system
administrator for more information".

Drag and drop individual contacts, copied to a seperate file before upgrade,
does not work either. Error message says "Cannot copy the items. Business
Contact Manager for Outlook cannot save this Business Contact, as it has an
invalid value Assigned To User. Either set a valid value, or create a new
Business Contact record to store the information".

I have several hundred contacts and supporting information in this data
base. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks...

2.Can not restore 2003 BCM with Vista Upgrade

I just upgraded my Lap Top to Vista. I have BCM 2003 SP3. I have historically
backed up my BCM on my desck top and restored it on my laptop so I have
current data. Now I get an error saying that I can not recreate because I am
not the the user who created the backup. I read the blog from Mukesh. As
Administrator I am able to restore the data and everything works fine. Then I
exit out of BCM and when I get the error BCM for outlook DB can not be
loaded. This cannot be completed because BCM can not access the DB. It then
lists the BCM file it can not open. It points to where the file resides but
when I try to change the configuration it does not even see the files. When I
go back as administrator it all works again.

One other dumb question? If I am listed as Administrator under my user name
(I am the only user on the machine) why do I have to launch as administrator?
Arn't they the same if they both have full rights?

Thanks for any help.

Tom

3.Outlook 2007 BCM fails after upgrade to Win7 64

Yesterday I upgraded from XP Pro to Win7 Pro 64. This required a
format/clean install so I backed up these data files:

myname.pst (Outlook Contact)
MSSmallBusiness.mdf
MSSmallBusiness.ldf
MSSmallBusiness_log.ldf

I reloaded them into the correct folder after re-installing Office 2007
and the latest updates from Windows Update including service packs.

Now when I first opened Outlook 2007 it tried to configure BCM 2007 SP2
and then gave this error message:

"Business Contact Manager for Outlook SP2: The feature you are trying to
use is on a network resource that is unavailable." Apparently it is
looking for a file named "mssmlbiz.msi"

What can I do to resolve this?

I use BCM constantly for business and it holds my entire client database
and history.

Thanks.

4.Upgraded Vista -Win7 now crashing Outlook 2003

Hi
Q 1
I upgraded from Vista to Windows 7 and receive regular updates from MS.
Since the upgrade when I open Outlook 2003 it starts downloading emails and
way through it crashes. additionally my email rules frequently dont work -
typically I need to run - detect and repair a few x [restore my shortcuts
while restoring]. How do i fix this?
Q 2
Re: The other option 'Discard my custom settings and restore default
settings" - I'm not clear on what this is - i cant seem to find detailed
information on this..... if this is a solution i would need to save and
reinstall the settings. I dont know what i customized or where the file of
customized settings are.

Thanks

5.Restoring BCM database

A "Tech" at my work uninstalled MSSQL on my laptop and I lost all my data.
Having a backup from a few days ago made me feel better - but I didn't test
it and once all of BCM was up and running I tried to restore and I get a
popup which reads "Line 1: Incorrect syntax near 'Brien'."
I have the unfortunate luck of my name being O'Brien so I guess it doesn't
like the apostrophe? What to do? It has no problem backing it up - I did it
with the new, virtually empty database and got the same message!
