DL Thank you for the response. My functioning OE currently contains the minimum folders that were provided for Outlook when I installed Outlook. The OE folders that I had been using for four years are not in OE anymore and they are not in Outlook. I cannot find them on the system, but I am sure they are somewhere. Do you know where they would be saved? and how I could import them into Outlook? Viewing images in HTML e-mails

Postby chawki » Fri, 15 Jul 2005 21:58:28 GMT

Hi.

I usually have Outlook display HTML messages at text. I then change
the display whithin the message myself if I want to see the HTML
formatted message.

What I can't get are images to be displayed within the e-mail message.
They appear as attachments instead of in their proper place within the
HTML message.

Does anyone know how I can have Outlook display the images properly
within the HTML-formatted message when I change the display from text
to HTML?

Thanks,

CJ.

What you're seeing is the way that Outlook works. Images sent as
attachments must be viewed separately from the message body. Only images
that are *embedded* into the message body by the original sender will
appear in the message's body.

1.HTML email images are converted to attachments when email viewed

I'm using Outlook 2000 SP3. I use the INBOX for mail from Earthlink and a
subfolder, under the INBOX, for email from Comcast.net.

HTML email from Earthlink, with embedded images received into INBOX are
converted 'on the fly' into an attachment after initially, and momentarily,
being displayed within the email message. Once the image is moved into an
attachment, a place holder remains in the email message. The same email
message, when sent to my comcast mailbox, is received into the email
subfolder (by way of Outlook rules) and the image is NOT converted into an
attachment.

What is causing this situation?

When outlook was originally installed, the HTML images were viewed in the
message body. After some event (SP3 being applied?), Outlook now modifies
the INBOX HTML email that contain images, and moves the image(s) into an
attachment, but only for the INBOX mail, not the INBOX/COMCAST mail.

2.Can't view HTML images in incoming email

Forgive me if this topic has been addressed elsewhere in the archives
(I'm sure it probably has).

Starting a few days ago, all of a sudden, I can't view the images in
incoming HTML email. They just show up as boxes with a red X. (The
only change I can think of that I made around that time is downloading
Yahoo Messenger that I needed for an online conference.)

I know the images are downloading okay, because when I access the same
.pst file from another computer, they show up just fine. So it must be
a local configuration option. I just don't know what it is or how to
change it.

I'm using Outlook XP (2002 SP3). And I'm not afraid to edit my
registry if that's what it takes.

Any help would appreciated.

3.Can't view images received in an HTML email in Outlook 2003

After a recent Microsoft Office Update, I am no longer able to view images in
HTML emails that I receive. The text appears just fine. The images appear
grey'd out or pixelated and in some cases they appear with the box and red x
icon. I am using Outlook 2003 SP2.

4.Outlook 2007 Crashing when viewing HTML emails with links to image

Having a problem with Outlook 2007 crashing when users try to view emails
containing HTML formatting and links to images. If the email contains the
actual image file in the email outlook does not crash.

Running Win2k3 Server Standard SP2 (plus all critical updates) - using
Citrix Presentation Server 4 and Terminal Services

Office 2007 Professional Plus w SP1 and all other updates

This issue so far only happens on this machine.

- I have tried repairing the Office install, with no success in resolving
the issue.

- In my research, I have also noticed some people copying over the original
mso.dll file and overwriting the one that is installed by O2k7 SP1 - this did
not resolve the issue for me.

- I have tried running Outlook in safe mode to test if a third-party plugin
was causing the problem - in safe mode the issue still occurred.

My next step is going to be to remove and reinstall Outlook from the CD and
skip the install of SP1 to see if the problem returns.

Anyone else having this or a related issue? I cannot seem to find any
information on this on the Microsoft Support Site, so if anyone has any
suggestions or has a solution I would be very thankful.

5.Embedded Image in HTML Email Using <IMG SRC="cid:My-Image

I am trying to produce an html email that uses embedded images instead of
linked images. Many websites mention the code for example: <img
src="cid: XXXX@XXXXX.COM " />. Others mention MHTML

How do I make this work. Do I need some add in program. I am using Outlook
2003.

I have no problem with regular html email with linked images. Help from
anyone with experience of embedded images would be appreciated.
