Hello, Intermittently, and infrequently, an image will not download when I read my mail in Outlook 2003. I tried the fix of tools --> security -- > download pictures --> change automatic download settings. The box for "Don't download pictures automatically..." is not checked. In almost all cases Outlook DOES display pictures. But the pictures don't display when we get messages from a couple select companies. One is BankofAmerica.com. By not displaying, I mean that it displays a blank box that just shows a red X in a little box. The images DO display on other computers around the office. So there is apparently some weirdness associated with this computer. It's running Windows XP Pro SP 2 or 3. Thanks for your help.
  • 2. Outlook 2007 gets "Cannot connect to exchange" server down message but 2003 is fine
We just migrated from Exchange 2003 to 2007. Both the 03 and the new 07 server are still running side by side while public folder replication occurs. The 03 exchange server is also our terminal services computer. I upgraded Outlook to 2007 on the 03/terminal services machine. All users except 2 had no problems on first log in. 2 users though simply cannot connect to exchange. All I get is a generic "unable to connect to exchange" error message when opening outlook. Setting of the account automaticly fails or propets for credentials which fails. I have restarted the server and verified permissions on the autoprovision in IIS on the new exchange server. The users normal machines upgraded to 07 fine and can connect it is only on this PC. Installing Outllook on a fresh computer and trying to login using one of the 2 bad users works just fine autoprovision works great. I have deleted the user account folder on the terminal services machine and logged back in. It started with a fresh account settings but still believes it cannot connect. From that user I can ping the new email server and lookup the servers FQN. I am clueless..... 8 other users have no problem on the same machine.

I want to remove the messasge in the outbox. Some solutions suggest going off line- under Tools - Favourite Folders- Mail Box Clean up BUT I can't find those choices to follow through on - using Outlook 2007
  • 4. Can I auto-forward incoming emails to another email account?
I have an email account on an exchange server. Normally I access all the email with Outlook 2003. However in the near future I want to forward all these incoming messages to another account for a while. In other words: whenever an email arrives it should be automatically (!) forwarded to another account. Can I setup this anyhow? Do I need access to the Exchange server itself or can I achieve this from Outlook 2003? Gary

Does anyone have the solution for this activex problem. I also work with outlook 2003 and word 2007 And i made new signatures, in word 2007. (because other editors give an inch space between the lines). That doesn't help either. More than one signature (emailaccounts) also topped working

Unable to open mailboxes after nightly backup runs

Postby Mike » Sat, 19 Jun 2004 00:51:03 GMT

Hi,
I am using Veritas backup exec 9.0 with Exchange 2003. I
just started backing up individual mailboxes and since
have had the same problem every day after that nightly
backup job runs. The following day that clients ie
outlook, cannot open their mailboxes. Outlook hangs etc.
Yet all services are running on exchange etc. I checked
with the veritas checklist and everything is covered
there. So I am wondering if anyone has seen this and what
they did to fix it? ps- the mailboxes seem to backup
correctly.....

Confused,

Mike

Brick level backups are not recommended for Exchange.

Anyway; Outlook isn't the first step to troubleshoot. Contact Veritas
support or ask in an Exchange newsgroup.

Replied in microsoft.public.exchange.admin. Please don't multipost - if you
need to post to multiple groups, it's best to crosspost instead, by posting
a single message to a handful of relevant groups (separate the NG names with
commas) so that everyone can follow the thread. Thanks :-)

1.VBA Macro that Runs nightly to export folder

Hi there,

I was wondering if you can give me any information on how I can do
this. I am not familiar with VBA programming but have written simple
excel macros in the past. I am not sure how to begin or what the best
resources on the web to do the following task.

Every night, I would like to export all contents of a single folder
"XXX" into a single .csv file and then move the contents to another
folder named xxxx_mmddyy .

Any ideas?

2.Code that Runs nightly to export folder into a csv

I had posted on other forums but I haven't gotten a reply and really
hoping someone here can help me or point me to someone who can.

I was wondering if you can give me any information on how I can do
this. I am not familiar with VBA programming other than excel recording
macros and editing them slightly so sample code would be greatly
appreciated.

The task I am trying to perform is as follows:

Every night, I would like to export all contents of a single folder
"XXX" into a single .csv file and then move the contents to another

Any ideas?

3.Recommendations Please: Software That Can Backup Outlook While It is Open/Running

As the subject says. There are lots of packages that will backup the pst,
etc. once Outloook is closed, but some products claim to do it while Outlook
is open. Any suggestions on products that actually do this and do it
properly? If the product can safely backup over the network to a server and
can do incremental/update backups throughout the day, I'd really like to
hear about it.
Thanks.

4.unable to open backup copy of outlook.pst and archieve.pst

I copied outlook/archieve.pst files then did a clean re-
install of WinXp and OfficeXp. Tried to import the data,
have done many times before with success. Now I am
getting the respone: "outlook.pst is not a personal
folders file" also the same if I try with the
archieve.pst! Anyone got any ideas????

5.Outlook "unable to open your default e-mail folders" Mailbox permissions

Hi, We have recently upgraded from exchange 5.5 to 2003. We have a few
mailboxes that worked fine after the initial mailbox moves to 2003,
but have since started having similiar problems with slight
variations:

 - The user cannot acces their own mailbox using outlook 2003. They
get Outlook "unable to open your default e-mail folders...." .
- If another user logs onto the same PC to access their own mailbox it
works fine.
- If the user witht the problem logs onto another PC and we configure
their e-mail profile, they still have the same issue.
- If full mailbox permissions is assigned to another user for the the
problem mailbox, that user CAN use the mailbox.
- If the mailbox is removed from the user,Exchange attributes
cleared, Replication allowed to happen, and a new mailbox created,
the problem STILL happens
- The users can all use outlook web access without any issues.
- I have checked the mailbox and user permissions on the user account
and compared it with a new user created. In one case, the problem was
solved this way, but for the rest the problem still exists.
- DELETING the user account and creating a new Account works, but this
causes other problems with lost server permissions, delegations etc.
so this is a last resort that I am trying to avoid.

The articles on the web I found all seem to indicate a problem with
the cached profile, personal folders, or custom setup files, none of
which applies to this particular problem

Any help will be greatly appreciated..
