  • 1. auto e-mail checking
Hi guys, I was wondering if someone out there could tell me if there's a way to check for e-mail automatically. What I mean by this is that I would not have to be "clicking" send/receive, each time that I need to check for new e- mail. Thanks in advance. Rudy
  • 2. Password problem. --- File access is denied.
I have Outlook version 2000-SR1 I am trying to open a .pst file that I archived some email in two years ago. Back then I was using a different PC and maybe I had a logon. I don't remember. This is just my home PC. I'm not on a fancy work network. All I want to do is look at my old email. When I try to open the .pst file I get an error: Properties for this information service must be defined prior to use. Then I click OK and I get a new error: File access is denied. You do not have the permission required to access the file <pst file name> What can I do?
  • 3. XP and Outlook 2000
Greetings: New box with XP Pro. I installed Office 2000. When I launch Outlook, everything works fine for about three minutes. Then, I get one of those "Sorry for the inconvenience. Have to shut down Outlook 2000." It's that error message that gives me the option to send the error to MS. When I send the error to MS, it tells me that a fix is available for download. I follow the instructions and go to the Office Updates site. It scans my box and tells me that my Office installation is up to date and no updates are available. Whether or not I choose to send the error to MS or not, it closes Outlook. I reopen and within three minutes the entire process starts again. Things I've Tried: 1. I ran the "Repair Office" application off the Office CD. No change. 2. I uninstalled all of Office. Cleaned out all residual files and cleaned the registry. Defraged machine. Re-installed office. Same problem. ??????????? Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks in advance. James
  • 4. Calendar and Task View-Outlook 2003
I just upgraded to Outlook 2003 from Outlook 2003 and already have a question. In Outlook 2003, I was able to view my Calendar and Tasks side-by-side. In Outlook 2003, I am only able to view one-or-the other. Can I view both side-by-side? If yes, how do I accomplish it? TIA Frank El Paso, Texas
  • 5. Select Name Sort sequence
I am trying to figure out how to get the list of names when going to the "To.." or "CC.." button to show up in last name sequence. Does anyone know how to get this to show this way? All my names have been entered in the "Lastname,First Middle" format and it sorts properly on the "contacts" section but not when selecting names for mailing. Thanks for your answers. Receiving MANY unwanted e-mails

Postby Todd » Sat, 23 Aug 2003 03:39:18 GMT

I support a small network in an office of 15 employees.
One of my folks specifically, has been receiving many many
e-mails today (and just started today), that are from
unkonwn senders.

I cannot get this to stop. I ran virus protection, and
found a virus this morning. I permenantly deleted this,
however, she continues to get many unwanted e-mails.

Thanks for your help.

Receiving MANY unwanted e-mails

Almost everyone is experiencing this. It is the SoBig
Virus probably. Are the subjects things like, "Details"?

If yes then they are all viruses, "SoBig" probably.

1.Deleting of unwanted text from received e-mails

I receive regular and a substantial number of
(acceptable) messages which contain, at the foot of the
message, a "PRIVACY & CONFIDENTIALTY NOTICE".
This message is added to the original message
automatically, but is clearly not required, nor it it
required on replies, which then generate another
version of the notice.

Is it possible to create a macro or VB script that could
do this, perhaps from a toolbar command. Although the
actual place of the message will naturally vary (from the
start of the message) depending on its length, but it will
always be the (around 20) last lines of the message.

Any help appreciated

3.unwanted background in received emails

I am about to pull my hair out! I am using Outlook XP on a
Windows XP machine. All of a sudden every email I receive
from multiple users comes in with a gray background. Even
if I send an email to myself and the background looks
white in the email I send, it still shows up gray when I
open the email. How do I stop this? What's interesting is
if I change my Mail Format option within Outlook to send
plain text emails, this does not happen. It seems to
happen if the option is HTML or Rich Text. However, it's a
little unrealistic to have everyone who sends me an email
change to the plain text option. I did a search for this
problem in various help groups/sites and someone mentioned
to delete the normal.dot and email.dot files and they will
rebuild themselves to the default. Well I found the
normal.dot and the email.dot files, deleted them but (a)
it didn't rebuild themsleves and (b) I am still having the
same problem. Maybe I didn't do this correctly. I don't
know. Any insight on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Lauren

5.unwanted sending/receiving (sync)

Outlook is sending/receiving messages when I do not want it to. The sync box
will appear when I am offline, working other programs, etc. How do I change
this so that it will only send/receive (sync) when I want. I have tried
