if you are using McAfee then disable its email integration.report it to McAfee too. I have a problem with that behaviour. You can "clean" the server when this happens by downloading or deleting the email from the server while the viruscan is not running.
Still hangs even with McAfee disabled. But thanks. Still looking for the solution. and
1.Preventing outlook from receiving mail
Is there a way to configure outlook to only send mails, and not receive them: Is this as simple as not providing a POP3 return mail domain. ?
2.Prevent outlook from automacically receiving mail
How can I stop Outlook from automatically receiving/downloading my new email messages ? I use a spam prevention program to filter my email. I am allowed to choose what mail I download from my provider. When I am finished reading my eamil and close outlook I can't seem to close it completely unless I shut down/restart my computer. It keeps running in the background automatically downloading all email sent to me, not allowing the spam program to do as I have trained it to. I don't want Outlook to constantly monitor when I receive new email. Just hiding the icon from view does not stop Outlook from automatically checking for new mail. I have searched for tips in the Knowledge Base without finding a suitable answer. Can someone help me please ? -- Joe
