Can somebody please explain how to share a networked calendar using Outlook XP? Used to have this functionality on office LAN but since upgrading to Windows 2000 and Office XP, we can no longer have the calendar open on more than one workstation at a time. Thanks heaps Sharon
  • 2. temporarily deactivate account
Hi, in Outlook 2000 I could have a bundle of mail accounts configured, and than there was a checkbox to "activate" the account (I don't know what it says on the internationla version), so I could either have Outlook check the mails coming to this account -- or let it be. In Outlook 2003 (also in 2002) it seems to me I cannot do this. I can either configure a mail account and check the mails -- or delete it. Do I just miss the option, did it go elsewhere?? Thanks, Ulrich

I have two hotmail accounts. Is there a way to add Multiple Hotmail Accounts in Outlook 2000? I know how to add one hotmail account in Outlook 2000. Is there a way to add two or more?
  • 4. Outlook rule based on value NOT in name?
Hi, I have a lot of SPAM coming in with the sender's address set to my e-mail address. However, the name is different. I would like to setup a rule like this: If the sender's e-mail address = XXXXXXX, but the sender's name <> YYYYYYYY then move to the junk folder. Can this be done? All I see are rules to look for a string - not look for the absence of a string. I use e-mail to transfer notes to myself and also transfer information between mail accounts and computers, so I do send myself e-mail fairly frequently. I'm using Outlook 2003. Outlook and Unicode..?

Postby Kent Johnson » Mon, 22 Dec 2003 07:27:16 GMT

Hi all,

I have a Webform from .Net with some text on it.
The page is created in UTF-8(Unicode).
If I send the page to Outlook some letters are distorted. Outlook cannot
distplay the text correct.
Outlook is set to Autoselect format.

How can I get Outlook to view all letters correct?

/Kent J.

1.is Outlook 2003 Unicode PST compatible w/ PocketPC 2003 Premium w/ Outlook 2002

Outlook 2003 offers a new Unicode compatible PST file that is capable of
storing up to 33TB as contrasted with the older ANSI PST files with a
maximum functional limit of 1.82GB.

Will the new type PST sync with an HP iPAQ Pocket PC h2215 running PocketPC

2.Outlook 2003 unicode mode

Hello!

I installed Outlook 2003 over an installation of Outlook 2000 (bad move, I
now realize). Outlook 2003 is running in non-Unicode mode and I want to
switch to Unicode mode because this user has a lot of mail (over 2GB limit
for non-Unicode. It is the owner's mail). The mail account is on the
Exchange 2003 Small Business Server and there are no PST files in use, but
the OST file is limited to 2GB and barfs on me when I use Cached Mode and it
gets to 2GB.

Is there a way to convert from non-Unicode mode to Unicode mode? I already
turned off Cached Mode, deleted the OST, turned Cached Mode back on and
recreated the OST, but it did it in non-Unicode and blew up again. I no have
Cached Mode off.

Any ideas?

3.Is Outlook Contacts unicode compatible?

I have an Excel spreadsheet containing contact info that I
imported into a Contact folder. The Excel spreadsheet
contains many Eastern European characters. As long as the
spreadsheet font is a unicode font containing all the
characters, they ALL appear in Excel.

When imported into Outlook all EE characters not in code
page 1252 (the standard Windows character set for English)
are changed to their unaccented base character. All fonts
for the various Views are changed to the same EE unicode
font that correctly displayed ALL characters in Excel.

Am I missing something? Is Outlook Contacts unicode
compatible? Or does can it only handle unicode characters
that are in the code page 1252 character set? I am using
Win XP Pro, english version. All these characters appear
correctly in all other unicode enabled programs on my
system. I would think that they should also work in
Outlook, or is it crippled in this regard?

4.Outlook 2003 Unicode PST files

Hi

We have recently wiped and re-installed a users machine who now has Office
2003, when she runs outlook she gets a message about outlook running in
non-unicode mode when referring to the archive file. The mailbox is now on
an Exchange 2003 mode but the pst archive file is in outlook 97-2002 mode
and did work before the upgrade whilst the machine still had office 2003 (it
was upgraded from office 2000).

Is there a setting so that it can use the old archive file rather than
creating a new one and moving things across otherwise this will cause a lot
of problems in the long term, or is there a utility that can convert 97-2002
pst files to 2003?

Thanks

Jeff Belt

5.Outlook 2003 Unicode PST Question

Is there any way to tell the format of a PST file - Unicode or ANSI? I have
a user with PST archives created with both 2003 and previous versions, and
I'm assuming the older files are ANSI.

TIA.
