My office system automatically installed the update to MS Office 2003 overnight. Now, when I use Outlook I am not able to "see" the email addresses in CONTACTS that I was able to use before the update. I also notice that I no longer have access to the Outlook Address Book area. I can click on that tab but the box to show folder as part of the address book is unchecked and grayed out. Anyone have the same issue. The update cannot be rolled back or uninstalled. Paul Conti
  • 3. Outlook 2003 doesn't recognize my email server
Currently, I'm having to use an older version of MS Outlook (2000). Before I was happily computing away on MS Outlook 2003, but something happened to it after a system crash and it wouldn't load. The error message I received was as follows: "Cannot start Microsoft Office Outlook. Unable to open the Outlook window. The set of folders could not be opened. The server is not available. Contact your administrator if this condition persists." No matter how many times I uninstalled and reloaded he program, this error message would keep reappearing. I hit upon the idea of loading the old MS Outlook 2000 program and then upgrading from there, but a new error message appeared, insisting I create a new email client, which I did, but again - no matter how many times I configured the program (successfully so), the same error message occurred. So, here I am, back on MS Outlook 2000. It gets the job done, but I have a more modern program that is now, for reasons unknown, useless to me. HELP!

How to Insert Signature After typing message?

Postby TW9tbXlhbm5hOTE3MDE » Sun, 12 Nov 2006 11:45:01 GMT

I have Outlook 2003, and I am using Word as the editor.
I have my signature set to automactically insert in a new message.
But when I forward a message it inserts above the message.
What I was to know is how can I insert it manualy, where I want it?
(I want the WHOLE siganture that I made up, not just my name which
I can insert using, insert, autotext signature.)

I have Outlook 2000 but it should be pretty similar.
Go to tools, then select options.
Go to general tab, then e-mail options.
You should be able to select the signature or
create a new one.
Good luck - K

Thanks. I already know how to create a signature. I have one.
What I want to know is when I open a new message to compose.
I have it set to automatically insert in the new message, but if I am doing
a forward
or something then it apprears ON TOP of the forward. So I have to delete it.
How can I MANUALLY insert it at the bottom of the message?
I am using Outlook 2003, and Word as the editor.
Thanks!

Clear the dropdown to say none on all replies and forwards and then you will have the option to insert it where you wish.

That is the whole problem. There is no "insert -> Signature..."
There was when I was using Outlook as the editor, but not with Word
as the editor.

Any other ideas?

f you are using Word as your email editor (aka WordMail), you will not have an Insert | Signature command like the regular Outlook editor. If you want to be able to insert a signature into a WordMail message manually, you can create an AutoText entry for each signature. You can then insert them with the Insert | AutoText command.

Or, create multiple signatures the normal way (Tools | Options | Mail Format) and make one the default. If you want to use a different signature for the current message, right-click the signature that Outlook inserted automatically. From the pop-up menu, select either the name of the signature you want to use or E-mail Signature to create a new one. I personally prefer this technique. This is also the technique you need to use if you want Outlook 2003 to automatically change your signature when you switch accounts on an unsent message.

1.typing an apostrophe causes OL to insert a tab in message

A co-worker of mine has this issue: Using OL 2007, when entering text in the
Message form, placing an apostrophe seems to insert a tab after the
apostrophe so there is a large gap between the apostrophe and the next
letter. He went to Word 2007 to see if it was a problem with the Word editor
but it works properly there.

I have no such issue. The only difference I can see is that I use Calibri
as my default font and he uses Sans Serif. I have looked on the web, but
have not come across any fixes.

Thanks much,

2.Insert Signature from Insert Menu

I had to recently reinstall my Outlook because of a problem. Previously if I
wanted to insert a signature I went to the Insert Menu when composing a
message. Now, though, the Signature option is not available when composing a
message. Is there a way for me to get it back?

I did see how the default signature appears, and I can right click to change
it. HOWEVER, my problem is I'm using PayPal's Wizard that integrates with
Outlook, and when I use that, no signature appears at all, and I can't choose
one (in the past, I had no problem inserting a signature from the Insert Menu
when using the PayPal Wizard).

So, if there is a way for me to get the Signature option back on the Insert
Menu, that would solve any problems.

Thanks,
Steve
