I use categories for sorting my email as opposed to folders and I would like to create a toolbar which consists of the categories I have created. I know on the standard toolbar there is the categories button, but what I would really like is a toolbar which simply contains an expanded version of all the categories. Is this something that is possible? Thanks.

The Addin, Robert mentioned, adds a sidebar to your Outlook, which displays all of your categories. You can filter the list so that it shows only some of your categories, and the list can be visible all the time. It does what you're looking as you can assign any category with only one click. However, the alternative is to code that yourself. You can create macros in VBA, customize your toolbar, and "drag the macro" to the toolbar.
