Ask in an Internet Explorer newsgroup. This one is for Outlook.

Why are you asking an IE question in an Outlook newsgroup?

1.uninstalling internet explorer 97 and intalling internet explorer

I have had an XP level maching for two years now. The XP was installed when I got it and probably had internet explorer 6. However, I installed my old Office 97 and seem no longer have the original internet explorer 6. Until recently I was able to use the browser from YAHOO! but really prefer internet explorer 6. I recently changed ISP services I was able to download internet explorer 6 from the site but can't seem to uninstall internet explorer 97. For some reason the roadrunner software keeps selecting the old internet explorer 97 and it just doesn't run right. Thoughts?

2.Internet Explorer 6 SP1 error: Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and n

I started getting an error: "Internet Explorer has
encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for
the inconvenience." last week. I am using Windows XP with
all the latest updates.

I found Microsoft support article 318378 about reinstalling
IE 6. However, after setting the IsInstalled registry
entry to 0 for IE 6 (but not Outlook Express) when I tried
to reinstall IE 6 SP1 from the Microsoft download, I
received a message that the application was not logo tested
for Windows XP and it refused to install.

What to do now?

3.Internet explorer and windows explorer lock up when Internet explorer menu bar is used

Internet explorer and windows explorer lock up when Internet explorer menu
bar is used, either with a mouse or via keyboard shortcut. As soon as a
menu item is selected I will get the drop down menu and then everything
ceases to function. I can do limited operations via the task manager and
can stop the iexplorer and explorer processes. However, I cannot restart
them via the taskmanager File/new task. Additionally, shutdown via the Task
Manager stops short and won't shut down completely. The only way to get
everything back is to hold the on/off button down for the full 5 seconds and
that leaves a mess in the temp directories. Help, Help, gotta have help.

4.Internet Explorer Problem (microsoft.public.internet.explorer.ieak)

Can you tell me why, when I click on a link in my email, it tries to bring
up IE6, but it is a blank window, and also brings up a window asking me to
open the web site pointed to by the link? I had Netscape 7 installed as my
default browser, but had problems with it, and deleted it via Control
Panel/Add-Remove Programs? When I click on home, it brings up the home
page, and then I can go to the link, if it is spelled out!
