When I open Word it wants to go into safe mode. Once it opens in safe mode it freezes and will not open any files. I try and close it and it will slow the computer down. It asks me if I want to save "normal file". How do I fix this?

Hi, we get different results using WORD via COM: Word_Application.PropSetVisible( TRUE ) Word_Application.PropSetScreenUpdating( TRUE ) -> Automation works as expected! Word_Application.PropSetVisible( FALSE ) Word_Application.PropSetScreenUpdating( FALSE ) -> Automation do not works as expected on specific computers! e.g. inserted lines in a table are missing. Hi, We are currently working on a project where we have two companies sharing documents. We use Word 2002 and the other company uses Word 2000 The problem we have is the documents we create in Word 2002 seem to become corrupted when opened and/or edited in Word 2000. I am using MS Word 2000 on Win XP PRo and when I try to print, I a (not responding)and have to Ctrl,Alt,Del and end the process. I could print fine yesterday to the network printer and got it to print 1 doc. today, but nothing else. I have reinstalled MS Office, the net. printer and still no luck. I'm using Microsoft Works 2000. My problem is with Microsoft Word. I can open Microsoft Word, and I can save files, but when I try to open them again, the program stops responding. Any ideas on how to fix it? - 5. Error message: Word file ... is unavailable but can open in word.
Last week I was unable to open word or excel applications (I have Office 2000). So I used the disk and asked it to repair errors. I worked on a word file and sent it to someone. After a few minutes that person's harddrive became corrupted and is totally destroyed. I am afraid the my file caused that but of course cannot be sure. So I thought I needed to install the office updates Microsoft has on their site......so I did that. Now I am unable to open any word files on my drive (new or old - I have created new files just to test it.) The message says that the file is unavailable. However, the file is there in Exploreer and I can open the files in Wordpad. Also, when I close Word, the message comes on about a new global template being created, and do I want to save it? I've tried saving as a different name, and also just deleting the normal templates. None of that made any difference. Any suggestions?

Hi, I have a question about running Word in Windows safe mode. Not Word/Office safe mode, but Windows safe mode. A friend of mine is having major computer problems and the only way he can get into Windows XP is using safe mode. He has a very important document with a time sensitive deadline that he needs to work on. I guess my question is this: is this a bad thing to do from the standpoint of possible document corruption? Wee not sure what is causing his computer problems, so I suppose it might not be the best thing to work on an important document, especially when it seems as though his hard drive might be failing, but does anyone know if working on a document in Word in Windows safe mode in and of itself could lead to document corruption? 2.Word 2007 freezes on opening - Will open in Safe Mode
I recently installed Office 2007 on my laptop. Operating system Vista Business. It worked fine for a couple of weeks but recently when I start the Word Application it freezes and the mouse does not work. When I open an already created document I can use the keyboard somewhat to navigate around the document but very limited and my mouse does not respond. I can open the application in safe mode and it seems to work fine. Has anyone else experienced this problem? I tried re-installing but this dis not help. Have not experienced the problem in any of the other Microsoft Office 2007 Applications. -- Muriel
