auto accent marks on "english" words

Postby Q2h1Y2sgVA » Sat, 08 May 2004 05:41:07 GMT

Hi All

I am currently running Office 2003 standard and when in Outlook or Word, I found that typing a word such as "resume" it would automatically add the accent ague over the letter "e" as in the French language. I did like that feature. Suddenly it is not working any longer and the only thing I believe that I have done is to use office update to patch Office 2003

Can anyone help me to turn that feature back on

Thanks

I use the auto-correct feature for that purpose. It is under the Tools menu. You'll want to replace "resume" with "resum"... so everytime you type resume, it will correct it to resum. Good luck!

If you really want it correct, have it corrected to rsum.

What she said... (I used Chuck's example, I'm not familiar with accents for the word resume. :) )

1.Accent marks directly on top of letters (English)

I want to insert accent marks directly on top of letters, e.g., "Alarcon"
with the accent mark over the "o" rather than the mark breaking up the word
such as "Alarc[accent mark space]on" or "Alarco[accent space]n" or
Alarcon[accent mark after "n"]. This name happens to be Hispanic. Do I need
to switch to Spanish to get the mark? I see a tildee in the Symbols menu and
it works directly over the "n". Another example is "de ja vu" (French)
placing the regular accent mark over the "e" and a backwards accent mark over
the "a". I see it printed this way in a dictionary.
