I used to be able to just drag a file into a Word document and an icon with a link was automatically generated. Now if I do it, the document opens in Word. I know that I can do a Paste Special and select the Display as Icon box, but these are just extra steps for a process that used to be much easier. Thank you!
  • 3. Default Directory for Templates
I work in Document Control for a large corporation, and we save most of our forms as protected Word templates. Most of the time, when I'm creating or revising a form, I work on it as a document and then save it as a protected template when I'm done. When I use Save As for a regular document, it saves in the same directory where the original was filed. But whenever I try to use Save As and click the template option, it automatically flips over to my user templates folder instead of the folder where I've been working. So I have to navigate back through several layers of server directories to find the right directory in which to save it. Is there a way to make templates automatically save to whatever directory I'm currently working in? I've looked for that option and haven't found it yet. I'm running Word 2003 under Windows XP Professional. Thanks, Fred
  • 4. Problems with page set up
I've been having problems with lines on my screen when I write in print layout view, which I have always done. There is no vertical scroll bar, nor are there any vertical margins, so I have to go into page setup in file if I want to change them. My text fits into the box that is on the page, and I cannot see how to get rid of it. It has been like this for about 3 weeks and I don't know what to do! Can someone help? There aren't any lines if I write in normal view, but there are still no margins or scroll bar. Anyone know what to do? Thanks!

3.Hmmm... Keystroke ceases to be

So I finally managed to get back to English (US) as my default, and
reconstruct my Toolbar just the way I want it.

Only now I discover the keystrokes I used to navigate to the top or the
bottom of a document no longer work.

I don't know what they're called on an English physical keyboard (I Use
a FRench Canadian one), but I'm pretty sure the bottom of the document
key is called "End." (It's "Fin"on mine).

It's not a huge deal, but I am in the habit of using those two keys --
and they still work in other apps.

I looked under Customize Keyboard, but couldn't see an obvious command
for Go To Beginning of Document or Go To End of Document.

All input welcome. TIA.
