Displaying CAPS LOCK ON in Word 2000 in Windows XP

When I hit CAPS LOCK when I'm typing, can Word display the CAPS ON symbol on
the screen? I have a keybaord that doesn't show a light to indicate this and
it is rather frustrating to type whole paragraphs without realizing I've left
the Caps lock on!

Unfortunately, Word hasn't done this for many versions now (Word 2.0 was the
last version that did, I think). Excel still does it. There is no way to
customize the status bar in current versions of Word, though this has been
suggested for future versions. You can add your vote at

What a shame. I'll stick my vote up and ask them to include it in future
versions. Very useful tool
