my installed "open type" font does not display as available

  • 1. Listing Field Values used in a document
Hello, I have received a document with a ton of fields. I would like to find a way to extract the field names and properties to a separate list for review. Can this be done? I'm using Word 2002. Thanks in advance for any guidance.
Is it possible to suppress in Word as in WordPerfect? Specifically, headers and footers. Thank you.
  • 3. "Update Field" is grayed out, why?
Does anyone have any idea why a document would suddenly stop allowing me to update all fields? When I select the entire document and right-click, "Update Field" is grayed out. However, I _can_ click on an invidual field and right-click to show "Update Field". Any help welcomed, P.

I have an open-type font that is not displaying in the available list of
fonts, in Word, or any of my Office applications. It is installed, and so
indicating in the fonts folder.

What else must be done? The computer has recently been reconfigured after a
crash. All updates are downloaded and installed for all software.

Word will only display fonts that the current printer driver is capable of
printing. It will not display screen fonts or fonts excluded by the driver

Similar problem here, but it probably has nothing to do with the printer:

We'd recently purchased the Avenir font family and installed it on systems
using Office 2003 (+ Windows XP). The following fonts were installed-
Avenir Black, Avenir Book, Avenir Heavy, Avenir Light, Avenir Medium, Avenir
Oblique and Avenir Roman.

In the Office 2003 programs (Word, PowerPoint, etc), only Avenir Light,
Book, Roman and Medium show up, along with the font "styles" of Regular,
Italic, Bold, and Medium. At the bottom of the Font menu (in Word), it says
"This is a scalable printer font..."

In Office 2007, the same 4 show up, but now add support for the Oblique
subfamily (and in the Roman font, Heavy and Heavy Oblique are there, plus
Medium displays Black and Black oblique - so that covers all of them).

So, without saying "just upgrade to Office 2007" or "get the TrueType
version instead" is there *any* plug-in or add-in/on solution to get the
subfamilies to show up properly in Office 2003?

Paul & Graham,

My Font-seller did reply to me; they were surprised at my trouble and
worked the problem at their end. It turns out that the Benguiat Gothic type
face (open) installs under a different name in the avalable list, namely
'ITC', or the developer's name, as opposed to the face name as with other
type faces. It does function normally in all office applications.

This seems to be true of all ITC fonts.

4.some installed fonts not available in Office apps

I have a large document prepared in Word 2002 on a PC ready to go to the
printer (comapny, not machine). The printer has said that I can not apply
styles to any fonts I use, but instead must use the true font. The doc is in
Times New Roman, which is fine, but throughout I want to italicize words for
emphasis. Although Times New Roman Italic is installed in my font foler, it
is not available in any of my Office apps. I've also noticed that its
representative icon in the fonts folder is an "O" as opposed to the "TT" I'm
used to seeing for True Type fonts, although its properties indicate it is a
True Type font. In case this was a driver issue, I tried setting each of the
three (different) printers in my house as the default printer and then
opening the document each time to see if the italic font was available, but
no luck. Any help? Thanks.
