Format > Tabs - or better still associate the required tab settings with the paragraph style. Tabs should be used with restraint. Make use also of indents. -- <>>< ><<> ><<> <>>< ><<> <>>< <>><<> Graham Mayor - Word MVP My web site www.gmayor.com Word MVP web site http://www.**--****.com/ <>>< ><<> ><<> <>>< ><<> <>>< <>><<>
When you press Tab, is the paragraph being indented? If so, you need to disable this feature as follows: Word 2007: Office Button | Word Options | Proofing | AutoCorrect Options | AutoFormat As You Type: "Set left- and first-indent with tabs and backspaces." Word 2002 and 2003: Tools | AutoCorrect Options | AutoFormat As You Type: "Set left- and first-indent with tabs and backspaces." Word 2000 and earlier: Tools | Options | Edit: "Tabs and backspace set left indent." -- Suzanne S. Barnhill Microsoft MVP (Word) Words into Type Fairhope, Alabama USA http://www.**--****.com/
1.Tab inserts tab instead of changing outline level
2.A Space inserted before a Tab in clipboard...
I am encountering a strange problem using text files in Word. If I select a Tab character some text and copy it to the clipboard, when I paste the clipboard an extra space has been added to the text. I could not see an option for this in the AutoFormat. Anyone help ? BTW: I have also noticed that the Office Clipboard isn't thread safe, it is possible to copy something else whilst it is still copying the previous item. The symptoms of this are either the item appearing in the list but actually not available to paste using CTRL+V or alternatively the message "Cannot open clipboard". But I got those in Excel - I'm just too impatient!
3.Change Indents, Spacing and tab stop permanently on my computer
Please help, it takes time setting the Indents and spacing (and tab stops) repeatedly while working in a document. It is set automatically on 1.32 Indent which is too much. I prefer 1.25 The indent and tab stops also does not align unless setting it repeatedly.
4.Changing default tab spacing in Word
Hello, I've noticed that the default tabs setting in Word is 0.5 in, which I almost always have to change to 0.25 because I prefer it smaller. Is there any way to permanently change this default so I don't have to do it in every document individually? Thanks! Jen
5.Modifying footer tabs creates unwanted line spacing changes
Using Word 2007 with customized page layout and paragraph, number, and bullet styles set to single line spacing with 6 points after. On occasion, I need to add or move a tab position in a header and/or footer. After moving the tab, ALL of the text in the body of the document will revert to the Word 2007 (default) expanded line spacing. This includes all heading styles, normal, body text, list number, list bullet, etc. This is especially an issue if I use the "Tabs" button from the "Paragraph" dialog box. Has anyone else experience this, and is there some way to prevent the line spacing from reverting to default settings?
