Using Protect Document feature in Word 2003.

Postby TWlrZQ » Wed, 28 Sep 2005 21:31:04 GMT

I had a user ask me about how to protect her Word documents so that other
users couldn't edit them so I showed her how to use Protect Document in Word
2003 which works great.

My question is if you send a user a word document that uses Office XP, 2000
or 97 will this Protect Document feature still work being that the other user
has a previous version of Office?

Yes, and no. The user of previous versions of Word will not be able to make
any changes in the document. That is, feature by feature protection is not
enabled in the previous versions.

1.Using the Find feature within a protected document

Hello

Someone within my organization has received a protected document. Whenever
he tries to conduct a Find for a specific word within the document, it
bypasses the word within the protected section of the document. Is there
someway around this?

Thanks in advance.

2.Using a 'Find Feature' with a protected document

Is there a way to enable a 'find' or 'search' feature when
using a protected form? The functionality that I am
looking for is that we would like to still have
our 'Controlled Forms' and still use text form fields for
the users to enter their data in. Then we would like to
functionality to search through all of the different text
form fields of a document of this type.

Can this be achieved using the FORMS tools or is there
another tool that CAN achieve this desired result?

Word 2003
I have a word document within which I want to allow only entries into form

document for "filling in forms" the user cannot click the hyperlinks. If I
protect "read only" the hyperlinks work, but not the forms.
