This is just a nuisance but maybe you can answer. I often copy a screen print into Word and then crop to the portion of the screen print I want in my document. Word displays crop handles on only 2 or 3 sides instead of all 4 sides. I spend a lot of time and irritation on trying to locate crop handles. Any idea why Word doesn't display all 4?

Hello, I created a rectangle through drawing tools. Using "Format autoshape" I entered its size to be 8 cm in height and 10 cm in width and hit ok. When printing (Scale to paper size:"No scaling") this rectangle ends up as 9,7 cm by 7,8cm (w x b). Why am I not getting a 10 cm by 8 cm rectangle on paper ? What am I doing wrong ? How do I fix this ? I am using Word 2003 btw. Thanks in advance! Filip

locking figures in Word 2002

Postby TEFD » Sat, 28 Jan 2006 03:57:03 GMT

I have a figure in a Word document that has text above and below the figure.
I have tried to anchor the figure to the paragraph above so that when I add
additional text to the document it appears below the figure. However, the
figure keeps moving down and the new text moves up to above the figure. Any
ideas on how to correct this? I have gone into format
pictures/layout/advanced and checked lock anchor, move picture with text and
allow overlap boxes.

Hi =?Utf-8?B?TEFD?=,

What you're looking for isn't there in Word, unless the picture is "thin" enough
to let text flow AROUND it. But there's simply no way to get text to "jump over"
a picture if it's also set to "Move with text".

Hi Cindy,

I'm not trying to word wrap around the figures. I just want the picture to
stay in the exact place in the text where I want it.

If you make the figure "inline with text" in Format | Picture |
Layout, then the figure should stay in the paragraph where it is
inserted. Text inserted above the figure will move the figure
down, but text inserted below the figure will not affect the
figure position.

I can send without Word as the email editor. Reloading Microsoft Office

3.Figure orientation and page numbers in Word 2002

I am trying to format an 80-page document with text and figures on some
pages, and figures or tables (and captions) only on other pages. I need the

portrait, so this report can be spiral bound.

Is there any way to do this in Word 2002?

4.Word 2002 SP3 and Visio Pro 2002 SP2

Why - why - why?

When I insert a drawing (a round circle with some text to the right of the circle) from Visio into Word (copy-paste of selected objects) the drawing is distorted (too wide) on my screen (1600x1200 pixels on a 4:3 ratio screen). The scaling in Size Object is Height=134 %, Width=184 %, even when the "Lock aspect ratio" is selected. The circle is not distorted, when I print the page.
If I insert the same circle but without any text on it, the circle is not distorted on the screen, the scaling is Height=133 %, Width=133 %, and the circle is still not distorted when I print the page.
Why is the drawing some times distorted on the screen?

5.Word 2000 docs locking up Word 2002

While trying to work on Word 2000 documents using XP Office Suite, some documents will work okay and others will lock Word up. The ones that lock up Word seem to open fine, but, as Word is repaginating the document prior to letting us work on it, the file locks up Word

An earlier poster appeared to have the same problem and the answer was to exclude Norton Antivirus from checking .dot and .doc extensions. We tried that, but that solution doesn't work for us

Any solutions are very welcome
