Pasting Excel Graphs (charts/enhanced metafile pictures) into Word

Postby Lorraine » Wed, 25 Aug 2004 06:38:01 GMT

I am looking for a similar solution posted by Donahue,
8/20/04, 7:07 am.

I have pasted excel charts and enhanced metafile pictures
in a word document, sent this to a colleague who has Word
2001 for the Mac, and she is unable to view these files.
She sees a big (red?) X.

Size/memory is not an issue here.

Any help here?

Pasting Excel Graphs (charts/enhanced metafile pictures) into Word

I neglected to mention that I have Word 2003 (Windows
XP). THis is what I use to paste excel graphs into word
documents, and these images are not viewable in Word 2001
(for the Mac).

You might like to look at http://www.**--****.com/

I have the same problem. At home I have a Mac running Office v.X and at work
I am using Word 2000. The problem works both ways. I "paste special" my Excel
graphs at home as "picture" and the document has the red X problem on my PC
at work and vice versa. The odd thing is that not all of the graphs
disappear. Some remain intact.

1.Editing a Table Pasted from Excel into Word as a Picture (Enhanced Metafile)

Hi:

I am copying a section of an Excel Spreadsheet, and then pasting into
word using Paste Special -> Picture (Enhanced Metafile)

When I right click on the object in word, one of the menu choices is
"Edit Picture" This will allow me to change text in the picture, which
seems to be included through the use of text boxes. I make a minor
change that is required, but then I cannot seem to revert the image or
picture back to its previous form, which seems to be as a normal
picture file that has been inserted. The only way I can figure out
how to do this is by using the undo command, but I loose my text
chance. If the picture stays in the new, editable format, whenever I
click into it, all of the text is becomes highlighted, which really
slows down my ability to continue work on the rest of the document.
The new format seems to be seen by word as a Drawing Canvas.

Does anyone know how I can make a text change, and then get Word to
see the image as an inserted picture file again as opposed to this
drawing canvas?

Thanks,
Brooks

2.Pasting Excel cells as "Picture (Enhanced Metafile)"

Hello

I need to paste cells from Excel into Word as "Picture (Enhanced Metafile)"
(I need to do this over 100 times). Every time I do this, the resulting
picture's top left corner ends up violating the top left margin of the Word
document (even though my cursor was located at the top left corner of the
page when I did the pasting). I then have to both move and resize this
picture. Is there any way to either

a) automatically resize the picture so it has the largest possible size
without violating any of the page margins (and not being distorted)

OR

b) if (a) above is not possible, at least move the picture so that its top
left corner is at the top left corner (as defined by the margins set for the
page) of the page?

Thank you for your help!

3.Paste Special , Paste link as Picture (enhanced metafile)

Hallo,

One of my colleague wants to paste excel table in word.

He select the cell and use paste special in Word , paste link and would like
to paste as Picture(Enhanced Metafile).

But Picture(Enhanced Metafile option is missing in word. He only gets
Graphic (windows metafile)

We are using Office 2003. He told this option was avalaible in Office XP 2002.

Any idea, how to get this option in Word 2003?

4.Font colours disappear when pasting to Powerpoint as Metafile/Enhanced metafile

When using copy/paste special to take a range from Excel 2002 to Powerpoint
2002 all is fine on my PCs - i.e. all formats are kept as expected.

However, my client has 2 of his own machines and 2 of his clients that lose
the font colour only - all text is black (background colours etc are fine).
Colour is retained in HTML and Bitmap formats but not Metafile or Enahnced
Metafile.

Anyone else had this problem? If so, any solutions please.

5.Pasting Excel Charts as Enhanced Metafiles

Since upgrading to Office 2003, I am unable to
successfully paste Graphs made in Excel as enhanced
metafiles into my office's Microsoft Word report template.

When I paste special, as an enhanced metafile, I am only
able to see the very bottom piece of the graph. I can
move the graph around and resize it, but it will not show
up on screen. Nor does it show up in print preview. BUT
it comes out just fine when I print a hard copy.

This issue is unique to our report template, as I can
paste Excel graphs into a blank Word document with no
trouble.

But it is also unique to Excel, as I can successfully
paste graphs made in Power Point into our report template.

I've tried re-creating the template in 2003 but that did
not help. I've also tried every combination of Office
2000 and 2003 pastes (i.e. graphs made in Excel 2003 into
the 2000 template, graphs made in Excel 2000 into the 2003
template, etc). Nothing seems to work.

Has anyone seen this problem before? Any suggestions on
how to get aorund it?
