Hi George The Connectors only work if you have your AutoShapes in a Drawing Canvas. You can get Word to create a Drawing Canvas whenever you insert an AutoShape by doing Tools > Options > General and ticking the "Automatically create drawing canvas..." box. Or, insert one explicitly using Insert > Picture > New Drawing. Hope this helps. Shauna Kelly. Microsoft MVP. http://www.**--****.com/
1.Connectors in Drawing toolbar grayed out
Office Professional 2003 In Word, the Connectors sub-menu in the AutoShapes menu of the Drawing toolbar shows the connectors, but they are grayed out and thus unusable. This is the only set of objects that is grayed out. Any ideas as to what is causing this and how to fix it? In Excel, the Connectors are available and work fine. I can create and copy/paste a Connector from Excel to Word if necessary (although for some reason it first appears in a huge drawing box, from which it has to be disassociated). Thanks. Jay
2.Why are my connector selections grayed out?
Hi Diana, In MS Word 2003 the connectors are only available when you're placing your drawing elements inside a Drawing Canvas (Insert=>Picture=>New Drawing). You can still use arrows outside of a drawing canvas. Connectors basically move along with a drawing shape when you move the shape. If you have MS Powerpoint 2003 you can create the graphic there (a Powerpoint slide is basically a drawing canvas <g>) and it's sometimes easier to work with the graphics there. =============== <<"Diana" < XXXX@XXXXX.COM > wrote in message news: XXXX@XXXXX.COM ... I want to use connectors in a document, but all of the shapes are grayed out - Word 2003. Can you help, please? Thanks! 3.insert Autoshape connector - why's it grayed out?
I'm trying to insert an autoshape connector in a Word doc. While I can see the selection of connectors, they're grayed out. How do I change this so I can use them?
4.Flowchart connectors are grayed out
Hi, I'm using Office XP Standard. Windows XP Pro, SP2 I do the following to make a flowchart in Word. 1. Insert-Picture-Autoshapes-Flowchart 2. I did one, then the Autoshapes box popped up, so I did another one. However, then I wanted to join them together. I clicked on "connectors" in the auto shape box, but they're all grayed out. Anyone know why my connectors might be grayed out? Better yet, how to get them back? I've reinstalled Office and rebooted. -- Joe Fisher Teacher, K-8 Marion, MT
