I have made some bookmarks in a document, and have a drawing that has text boxes with cross references for the bookmarks in them. I have 2 questions: 1) Is there anyway I can use 'select all' and F9 to update the crossreferences that are in the textboxes? 2) The bookmarks are positioned at headings. I want to be able to get the headings into the text boxes as crossreferences to the bookmarks without them coming in as Heading styles (i.e. so they takie on the format inside the text box). thanks Michelle

I'm working for a nonprofit and need to generate presenters guides for a slideshow. How can I reduce the size of the Word document that is generated automatically when PowerPoint produces a slide outline? I like the format it generates, but it becomes a humungous file (225Megs) that is very unwieldy to edit. When I try to reduce the file size by using "compress" in the picture edit format screen, Word won't let me. Any ideas? Thanks very much.

Problem copying jpgs from Windows Explorer into Word

Postby k1w1 » Thu, 07 Sep 2006 01:27:42 GMT

I have a client that until recently has been able to browse to .jpg files,
using Windows Explorer, and select and copy a file, then open Word and paste
the image in. All that happens now is that we get a placeholder box with the
pictures filename.
Using the same process with bmp files works fine.
Operating system is Windows XP, and I believe the version of office is 97,
possibly 2000.

Any thoughts or ideas? My thought was that something had changed the jpg
conversion filter, and he did mention having installed software for a cell
phone and transferring pictures. Any ideas how to test if I'm on the right
path?

Thanks.

His temporary cache is probably full. In Internet Explorer, tools, Internet
Options, delete files.

1.Copying links from Windows Explorer to Word - weird results

Hi All,

I was in the processing of documenting the various components involved in
Startup.

I:\Documents and Settings\All Users.WINNT\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
had four links, which I successfully copied as a group to Word, resulting
four hyperlinks.

I tried the same thing from
I:\Documents and Settings\RLMuller\Start Menu\Programs\Startup,
which had three links. This time, I got four *objects* instead of
hyperlinks.

I can't figure out what I did differently. I tried copy with ^C and paste
with ^V. Ditto with context-menu copy and paste. Ditto with drag and drop.

The only other thing I can think of is the recently, when I typed while a
selection was in effect, the typed material did not replace the selected
text. I clicked the option "Typing replaces selection" and that problem was
solved. Thinking that change might have caused my main problem, I
unchecked the option, to no avail.

I'm running MS Office 2000 (9.0.6026-SP3) over Windows 2000 (5.00.2195-SP4).

Any ideas?

2.copy windows explorer filenames and information to clipboard or Ex

3.selecting & copying mulitple document files in windows explorer

I wanted to select multiple word docs, copy them and paste them to a
different location.

I was in the "my computer" dialog box, used the control key to select the
documents, right mouse clicked with the intention to copy them (or send them
to a floppy) and I ended up with multiple copies of the original documents in
the original folder. I selected the documents again and received more
mulitple copies.

I'm using Windows 2000 Professional.

I'd like to know what to do so this doesn't happen again. Thank you.

4.problem opening excel-word-access (office files in general ) double clicking in Windows Explorer

Hi,

My computer was working correctly until last week, but suddenly I had a
problem when double clicking office files from Windows Explorer.

If I click any office file in WIndows Explorer (local or in a network
location) it takes about 30 seconds to open.

If I open Word, Excel or access and then click on 'open file' and select a
file, it opens instantly.

What I have tried so far:
-run 'winword /r' and 'excel /register' with no success
-repaired office

Any other kind of file is opened instantly (jpg, txt, ...).

My computer is a PIV3,2 GHz, 1 GByte Ram, so performance is not an issue.

Thanks in advance for your answer.

5.Copying files from Windows Explorer

How can I copy just the file names that are listed in a folder in Windows
Explorer into a Word 97 document? All I want is the file names not the
files themselves. I need to do a copy and paste of some sort since there
are to many files to type.

Thanks,

Les
