  • 1. Office 2007 SP2: PNG, Textboxes and Postscript Printing
We use a fair number of older Word documents that contain PNG images and text boxes i.e. hierarchical charts. The document appears fine in print preview, but when it is printed to a Postscript printer, text in the text boxes is cut off almost like the image or its margins overlap. For example, if there is a PNG image on the left and a text box on the right and they do NOT visually overlap in any way, then the 50%+ of the text in the text box will be cut off from the left. The kicker?? The same documents print fine when printed to the same printer from even the same computer WHEN OFFICE 2007 SP2 IS UNINSTALLED. Any ideas? Given the number of documents, replacing the images is not feasible. There is a good chance that the users will eventually have to have SP2 or later if not a newer version of Office, so I hope to find a solution to the problem. Many thanks and if there are any questions, feel free to ask! Thanks. Alex

We have the artwork and it was once the heading -- however, new computer, software up-dates, etc. have lost that feature and we would like to put it back on -- can you tell me how?
  • 3. In line picture at top of page gets clipped
Open a Word 2007 document (docx). Insert a picture as "in line with text". Insert enough material ahead of the paragraph containing the picture so that it naturally falls at the top of a page--don't use a hard page break, etc. Now select the paragraph containing the picture and increase its "space before" setting. The paragraph marker does not move, but the picture moves down, so that the bottom of the picture is below the bottom of the paragraph. If you increase the "space before" to larger than the "space after" value, the bottom of the picture gets cut off. If you repeat the above with a few characters in the paragraph along with the picture, you'll see that the text stays with the paragraph marker; only the picture slides below the paragraph baseline. Changing the setting for suppressing extra space at the top of the page has no effect. Save the document in Word 2003 format, and the problem vanishes. That's not too bad of a workaround, but is there anything else I can do?
  • 4. floating pictures
I have written a chapter on Office Word '07 importing pictures of circles with angles in them. The problem is everytime I reopen the word file, the pictures float across the pages- and it takes forever to reposition them! How can I lock them into place???? Thanks for your help! Don

Text box problem in Word 2000

I have created a text box, filled the background with black and the fonts
appear in white. Many times it prints just fine, that is, a black box with
white letters in it. However, this is erratic. I have used the exactly same
procedure but sometimes new boxes print only in black and no white letters.
I am using Windows 98.
Can someone help me? Thanks
