Thank you and I am an idiot. New system, things look different. I guess I always did fill in my tables with Borders and Shading. I just checked the old system, and it is just my memory that is failing, not MS Word.

If you use the Tables and Borders toolbar, the Border Color and Shading Color buttons use the same button images as the Line Color and Fill Color buttons on the Drawing toolbar, which I think is inherently confusing. Another thing that is confusing is that frames require borders (which can be selective) while text boxes have lines (which have to be on all four sides). -- Suzanne S. 1.Drawing Toolbar, Fill Effects does not work. MO SBE 2003, Word 20
MO SBE 2003, Word 2003. When using the Drawing Toolbar, specifically Fill Effects, Line Effects, Shadow, and 3-D Style, the selections are gray shaded - blank. I know I can get to some of these from Format, but I can't seem to find anyway to make the icons work properly. Font Color and Highlight icons work properly. (Text has been selected first.) The problem appears to be selective, some of the icons (as noted above) work fine and then others do not. I tried to add the Fill Color icon to the Standard Toolbar, but it still did not work. It seems to be the icons on the Drawing Toolbar. (I added Highlight to the Drawing Toolbar and it still worked fine there.) Thanks.
2.Draw Button Not Working On The Drawing Toolbar
I creating my own business cards and I placed some vertical lines on each card. After moving all text and graphics around on each business card, when I try to resize the vertical lines they snap to some grid point. Searching the internet and this forum, I found I need to click on the draw button on the drawing toolbar to turn off the snap to function. When I click on the draw button on the drawing toolbar nothing happens, so I can get to the menu I need, to be able to turn off the snap to function.
3.Word 2003 background (fill effect) prints incorrectly-not WYSIWYG
When a Word background "fill effect" is set via menu format > background> fill effects > gradient >preset >fire ( from center). It displays as 1- 2 large rectangles on the page. This is the same when viewed from print preview. Howvever when printing this background, it prints as large amount small rectanges approx ( across 6 and 11 down ) . It has effectivly re-sized the output to the printer. This does not seem to be a printer problem as I have tested this with different prints. Any advice on how to fix this would be very helpful.
We are trying to utilise the fill and effects function to color floor plans. The desired effect is floor tiles laid in different formats. The function works well however there are not enough tile effects to suit our requirements. Is there a way to change some of these fill effects and save as standard. -- Traveler
