  • 1. new doc open settings
each time i open a new word doc. double line spacing appears . using word in office 2007 have tried resetting and used options and is fine but when i open a new or blank doc it resets to doubline line spacing . just want a new doc to be not double line spacing and set at 1 not 1.5 as happens now. 2007 seems too coplicated and too advanced from 2007.
  • 2. one page portrait, one page landscape, doesn't work
Hello, I'm making a grammarbook and somewhere in the middle I need a couple of pages in landscape instead of in portrait. I tried it through 'page setup' and through 'insert file' and both do not work. The pages in landscape consist of tables filled with nouns in different cases, too broad to fit in portrait. Does anyone know how I can do this? Is it even possible with word? Bella

  • 4. Unstable Styles
I've inherited some docs that appear to have unstable styles. My understanding is the docs did contain many char styles prior to the docs being handed-off to me. The char styles do not appear to be present when styles are viewed from the organizer. I believe they were removed with a macro. The styles seem to be unstable. For example, upon opening the table is formatted with a custom header style. Any idea what is going wrong, and how to fix?
  • 5. 2007 Numbering Advice
After reading about changes to 2007's automatic numbering feature, I've decided to give it a try out, and would appreciate any advice you can offer. Prior to 2007, I've defined List Number styles for my documents, and kept the Automatic Numbering feature turned off. I used Body Text for other paragraphs. Now I have turned the Automatic Numbering feature back on, and will be creating lists on the Body Text style. Is this a sane approach? Should I go down a different path? Opinions and document references are most welcome. janet

Numbering changes when document opened in Word 2007

Postby UGF1bF9MYXc » Thu, 10 Apr 2008 01:23:01 GMT

When my colleague opens a document in Word 2007, the numbering of list items
changes so that the first paragrpah in his document is number 7. When I open
the same document in word 2003, the first paragraph is numbered (correctly)
as 1. I have also asked another colleague (also running W 2007) to open the
document and the paragraph's appear correctly.

I have a feeling that the problem may lie with the template settings in my
frst colleagues version of Word. Does this sound possible/plausible and, if
so, is there an easy way to reset this to prevent this from happening in the
future?

Many thanks in advance

Are you updating styles from the template? If so, turn that setting off for
the document (in the Template and Add-Ins dialog box). Save the document and
then see if it opens OK on your colleague's computer.

To display the Template and Add-Ins dialog box: On the Developer tab, click
Document Template (Word 2007) or click Tools | Templates and Add-Ins (Word
2003).

1.Accepting heading number changes in Word 2007 leaves old number

In Word 2007 when heading numbers are changed because a new heading in
inserted and the Review change option is on, both the old and new heading are
displayed next to each other. When I accept the change the old and new number
continue to be displayed in "change" mode although any text on the same line
is re-formated to normal display. How do I get rid of the changed heading
number indication? Previous versions of Word did this automatically.

2.Opening track changes document in Word 2007

I want multiple users to be able to see the changes in a document if they
want to, but to have the default view be final. But when I save the document
after working on it and then open it again, it always opens in display track
changes mode and confuses some users not familiar with track changes. (The
document was originally created in Word 2003.) How can I make the default
view final when it opens?

3.Track Changes set to FINAL upon opening a document in Word 2007

I'm having a hard time figuring out how to do the following:

I want to save my document with Track Changes still active, so that whenever
someone opens the document, the Track Change view is set to FINAL (without
markups).

That's it. Every time anyone opens my doc now, it displays the markup (FINAL
SHOWING MARKUP), unless I accept the change or turn off Track Changes. I
don't want that. I want to keep Track Changes going, but I want it to be
running invisibly. Instead, the markup reappears each time the doc is opened.
Please tell me there's a simple way to make this happen.

4.saved Word 2007 document does NOT contain Changes I made upon Open

I am revising documents and saving them to ProLaw (document management
system). When I open the document again, the Changes Aren't There OR only
some of them have Saved, BUT the document is totally not perfect like the
final document I printed out. Again, when I save and close the document and
then pull it up again, it's missing all or most of the work I did on it.
What in the world could be causing THIS??? WOULD IT HAVE SOMETHING TO DO
WITH SAVING THEM FROM A WORD 97-2003 DOC TO A WORD DOCUMENT (.docx I
presume?!?!) OR WOULD IT HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH PROLAW (DOCUMENT
MANAGEMENT SYSTEM)?? Please HELP!

5.Change shortcut to open document in Word 2003, not 2007

I don't know how this happened. I have a document shortcut on my desktop
which, up until yesterday, opened the document in Word 2003. Now the
shortcut opens the document in Word 2007 (which I cannot bear; it is much too
confusing to use). At the top it shows the document name with "Compatability
Mode" in brackets following. How can I get the shortcut to open in the old
Word program? (I did try creating a new shortcut and deleting the old one
and it works the first time, but as soon as I close the document and use the
shortcut again, it defaults to the new stupid Word version.) Please help!
Thanks.
